Last year, I went for my first ultrasound of my very first pregnancy and was so excited. But I quickly found out my baby had no heartbeat and stopped growing two weeks earlier. I had no signs of a miscarriage and was told I had to force my baby out. They called it a “missed miscarriage.” My doctor urged me to take the abortion pill (mifepristone) instead of getting a D&C to avoid creating scar tissue. She said it would just “feel like a heavy period.” I listened to her. When I went home, I took the medication and ended up in the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. I was screaming, I was crying, I was about to pass out, and I was heavily bleeding. I almost went to the ER. For several days after, I had intense cramping. I felt lied to by my doctor and not prepared for what I endured. No, the abortion pill is not “safer than Tylenol” and should not be obtained online or through the mail.
