i thought it was obvious that it wasn’t only about their time in the circus. “we’ve all done bad things” vs. “we all did bad things”. it’s a small distinction. but what Pomni said was essentially “we’re all human, we’re all flawed”

@shwamperz @Nitemanprod Then talk about status quo. Because and the rest of the people on this tweet are only dunking on hope as a theme rather than dunking on the obsession that writers have about denying their heros any actual change or progression of their goals.

I used to be like this, Like, a hopecore guy, but now, after like, reading more superhero comics and really thinking about it, making the primary focus of a hero's ideology being about hope should be treated like a fundamental failure.

@shwamperz @Nitemanprod If I was insulting you I'd be a lot more up front about it. I was just making an observation that you seem too not have a clue of what kinda of genre we're talking about here. Which is superheros, the genre well known for vigilantes with powers beating up every kind of evil-doer.

@BanannaSlamma64 @katsukeys_ Jax is an abuser who knows exactly what he's doing and the consequences for it. Sure he might feel bad for it, and be sympathetic. But that doesn't mean his victims should not defend themselves/seek to knock his precieved ego down a peg.

@BanannaSlamma64 @katsukeys_ In those early episodes Jax would not let up on bullying Ragatha and Gangle, so ofcourse when theres no one else to regulate him they would resort to tying him up to stop him from attacking them in any way. 1/2

@emilyis_emilies The fact that has 4k likes is really concerning to me like... Yes, they have all done bad things? Not just in the course of the show, but before the circus, too. Nobody is perfect lol People have GOT to stop taking things so literally/black and white.

But we also live in one where every day multiple truly good acts happen and only grows in number. It isn't out of the imagination that one day decades from now the dichotomy might shift to good.

@Nitemanprod I don't think hope itself is bad to have at all, but if that's all it is... It's meaningless. Don't get me wrong a character giving people hope and striving to be better is good but you need the action of hope not just the words.

I dont know what comics this guy reads that gives them the impression that hopeful characters do nothing when, often, those characters who main thing is hope does the most out of all the heros.

@MilMoonlight06 @IKillCEOs @Cornpapers Mostly the show is less about the characters and more about philosophy and existentialism, and only uses the characters to say the writers beliefs. With only one or two characters picked out to act as actual complex characters while the rest are shallow.

@MilMoonlight06 @IKillCEOs @Cornpapers Every episode we have a atleast two shots of Jax being miserable. He's a primary character and the writers favorite to boot so he's going to get alot of attention (to the point that it's a detrimental to other characters). 1/2-

My sister made me watch Digital Circus with her and this is genuinely how they write the show. Like it’s all just constant theorybait instead of actual worldbuilding or story oh my god.
