it’s only been a few hours since breakpoint 2025 ended, and i’m already seeing recaps everywhere, so i figured i’d write a short one myself from my bed in dubai. let’s go through everything, starting from the beginning. huge shoutout to the @MonkeDAO team for organizing the hotel at the ritz. premium service is always appreciated. i had the chance to reconnect with some old friends, people i now consider my brothers. a big part of them are, of course, members of @luciddrakes, and i truly hope that the others i met during the same event will join our big family as well, so we can open a new chapter together 👀. as every year, our good old @bonk_inu was there. i was really happy to see again the smallest and cutest @sammydusoleil, and to finally meet the lovely @Cryptobeans12 who helped us a lot with her feedback to keep improving @useDiversiFi for our users. i also want to thank two people i met on site, with whom the conversations were especially valuable: @iamkadense and @vidor_solflare . as usual, i can’t name everyone, but if you know, you know. can’t wait to see what bp london 2026 will look like, and i fully trust the @SuperteamUK team, @archill and @CapinUK to help manage all of this smoothly. never kill yourself.

Often times when I notice (and assume) content is written by AI, I am way less inclined to engage. All these polished posts, blogs, reports… they’re so lackluster and predictable. Ofc using AI can be efficient and productive, but I miss the human touch. I miss the nuances, vulnerability, and mistakes. I miss originality from start to end. As AI becomes even more prevalent and standardized, the key is in human authenticity—or at least the perception of it.

Some of you don’t proofread your chatgpt spit content and it shows. And by some I mean too many. Leveraging LLMs can be efficient. But if you want to retain readers, take a few minutes to learn how to prompt better. Describe the tone, the goal, your audience. Provide examples of text for inspo. Just a few tweaks to your prompt and your content can be extraordinarily better. Tons of tips and resources out there. If you’re in charge of producing content, your voice is valuable. So use it 🎤

hiring a CMO first is burning money on strategy decks your first marketing hire should be a borderline unhinged execution machine who: - tests channels - builds while others are planning - treats data as decision fuel - ships without excessive meetings 1. hire a doer who delivers across functions 2. scale what actually brings users 3. only then build specialized teams i've watched startups fail with perfect "brand guidelines" and zero traction while swiss army knife marketers built empires on pure execution. strategy without results is just expensive LARPing. the market rewards action, not theory.

Marketing hiring order for new teams: - FIRST hire a marketing generalist, aka CMO / Head of Marketing to work on the narrative and strategy - Then hire for branding & visual assets - Then hire for content, social and community - Only after engage in any paid marketing CAUTION: Not following the order wastes your time, money & nervous cells. We don’t want that, do we?

Educational resources in this space is also very fragmented with no clear user path because there are too many directions you can rabbit hole into after learning the basics and it can be very overwhelming. And when you come out of the rabbit hole, you may realize how niche it is with very limited, practical use cases/no pmf outside of crypto so wouldn’t say there’s a lot of sustainable incentive to learn. The rate at which new projects are launched doesn’t align with the rate at which the user base is growing (or decreasing). This leads to fragmentation for no reason. “founders” whose pmf boils down to forking a project and adding on a few nuanced features at best when there is absolutely no need for their project at all. But hey they can maybe make it rain from their token and that’s their priority, even if it means doing so at the cost of bringing more unnecessary noise and diverting mindshare from projects with real utility doing things that actually matter. Imo not enough projects truly dedicated to breaking out of this bubble and solving a tangible problem. Peeps gotta think bigger, plan practically, adapt accordingly, and commit. Don’t shoot to be #1 on coinbase, aim to be #1 on NASDAQ

Crypto has a talent problem. let me explain my thought process here: i recently tweeted this and it got a lot of engagement, and a lot of people agreed to it even saying that it's 95% instead of 80% similarly @Web3Kristel tweeted this and comments on both posts are pretty similar. what does this prove tho? skill issues. and this is not just for for BD/marketing. This is true for devs, devrels, growth and founders. outside avail, I have consulted a few projects previously and i have heard similar stories of multiple orgs as well. A lot of founders don't have any directions, growth/BD teams don't know what to do, there is no pmf for a certain product, the categories are new and a lot of education is needed and so on. All while we sit in an echo chamber of same people. so how did we come to this? i think a lot of it started in 2021 when handful of devrels and nft folks with large following started tweeting stuff like: crypto is the next big thing, work at a crypto remote org with 6 figure salary while sitting in a third world country and so on. this was an extreme hopium for college kids or web2 folks who wanted an out. Everyone raced towards learning solidity or read articles as though crypto is a diamond mine. problem was: they didn't have much professional experience or lacked right expertise to work in such a fast paced environment. There was no love for the tech or cypherpunk text philosophy. it was a desperate sprint to get something better as every human desires in any industry. and that has brought us to this point we are in today. another issue is also that the people dont use their own tech and products: I asked someone who worked at a leading L2 about why they are building what they are building and how many L2s have they used so far. Answer? None. so the education among the web3 professional itself is missing, let alone onboarding the masses. i dont want to sound rude or offensive to friends and people who work in the industry. It's ofcourse not any one person's mistake. A bigger issue is also products themselves. A lot of products are just hard to use, explain and have no pmf. With less users, it becomes are to teach and/or get feedback on your product. while i dont have a concrete data, but i believe we have less than 500k total crypto native people, who work in this industry. so no pmf + no users itself is a problem. another thing that has been bugging me is that i understand that there are no users or concrete pmf, but blockchain thesis can be learnt. No one is born with the knowledge of these and there are too many resources to read from or ask chatgpt or similar stuff. BUT people don't have a drive to learn unless they are forced to, and that is a big problem. Im not good with MPCs or ZK, but i can read and learn if i work in that specific company, right? i dont see it too much happening tho. all this to say is that the incompetency problem is across the board and not just in marketing or BD. Devrels suffer from this too. I can count good devrels on my fingertips, and i dont even consider myself a great devrel, but im willing to show up and learn every day. what are the solutions? i dont know. More people, more education, more crypto zombies/succint like interactive cool stuff to teach people. Companies probably should also start educational content stuff internally to help people and teams win. overall, i think we are in a dire situation. I am not even talking about bear market or prices going down. Those are just cyclical things. I am talking about real human resource problems and the need for us an industry to work on it. crypto/acc.
