I’ll just go on the record and say it: I do not want Jon Sumrall. But he’s going to be Florida’s coach and I will root for him to do well. He deserves a fair, legitimate chance. We owe him that. Let’s not boo him out of Gainesville right off the bat. That said, he simply does not have the goodwill built in for a bumpy takeoff the way a Lane Kiffin or a Lincoln Riley would have. Scott Stricklin, Gary Condron, and the rest of the AntiChrist minions may hate the rest of us, but surely they can understand that. They have to know— they HAVE to— that this fanbase is going to require far less adversity to turn on Sumrall than a proven P4 coach. Let’s hope for the best, because we really don’t have a better option.
