She is right though. We raise kids in stages. Give them freedom and added privileges as they get older.
Treat them as human. They are still young and immature. But you have to make sure you let them grow up.

Oh sweet child it was actually pretty brutal. Not only were you made fun of relentlessly for liking anime, you also had to navigate *ahem* not totally legit sites to access these titles. It was the wild west of PC viruses and hours long buffering
