I hope that in my lifetime we'll see a proposal to create an integrated North Philadelphia station complex, linking the majority of regional rail lines with a modern Amtrak station that actually gets service. Would cut 30 mins off of trips to NYC for riders north of Philly.

The Northeast Corridor really is in a class of its own in the US. Living in Wilmington, Delaware, I price tickets out of these three airports for long distance trips, and usually one is significantly cheaper than the others, so taking the train is a no-brainer.

@SummerSalts Newark (EWR), Philly (PHL), and Baltimore (BWI) all have train access, and Amtrak can be taken from each down to DC (philly needs 1 transfer at 30th tho)

Surely someone has already pointed this out, but it's looking like Amtrak is planning to either sunset the Wilmington shops or significantly reduce how many trains those facilities maintain. New facilities are being built across the Northeast Corridor, but no word on Wilmington.

@AndrewBylerPA @Aden_Yacobi Entirely possible, but the Bear facility is newer than Wilmington and semi-recently upgraded/modernized, and is one of Amtrak's primary facilities for servicing Amfleet coaches. While Amtrak is retiring the older Amfleet coaches, the 2nd-Gen could be in service through the 2030s.
