We fought hard to pass #CleanSlatelL and the day is finally approaching! In less than 60 DAYS, directly impacted Illinoisans will have one less permanent punishment to navigate. Thanks to grassroots organizing and community centered events, we were able to amplify our message and enact the change we always wanted to see! "With this Clean Slate Bill [...] three years after you compete your parole, your probation, your felonies will fall off like a credit report," Toy Beasley announces to a group of organizers in Peoria, IL. #CleanSlatelL #ENDPP #FairChanceMonth #EndPermanentPunishments

We believe in Fair Chance Month. Because for many of us, there was never a real first chance to begin with. Systems shaped by stereotypes, under-resourced schools, and lack of opportunity made sure of that. And still, people grew. They tried to bury people. They didn’t know we were seeds. This April, we’re shifting the conversation. We’re raising $5,000 to bring hundreds to Springfield on April 15. Be part of it. Support us in person: endpp.org/April15 Support us from home: endpp.org/donate #FairChanceMonth #SecondChanceMonth #FullyFree #EndPermanentPunishments

Jennifer Andrews is a former 23‑year mortgage underwriter who now uses her deep housing finance expertise to open doors for underinvested communities in Metro East. She is the founder and Executive Director of 101 Ways NFP, a faith-based reentry organization that provides housing and wraparound support for justice-impacted women, returning citizens, seniors, and veterans while building the new Metro East Reentry Council (MERA) as a regional hub for services. As a managing member of AnchorStone Development Group, she is leading a 16‑home new construction project in Madison, Illinois to bring high-quality, affordable single-family housing to a city that has seen little recent development. A survivor of homelessness, abuse, single motherhood, and addiction, Jennifer describes herself as an overcomer and believer in Christ who channels her story into concrete opportunities for others to heal, stabilize, and thrive. #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenLeadJustice #EndPermanentPunishments #CleanSlateIL #FullyFree #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs #WomenOfTheMovement #WomensHerstoryMonth

To all the women in this movement: we see you, we honor you, and we celebrate you for all that you do. Your leadership, your courage, and your commitment continue to move us forward every single day. #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenLeadJustice #EndPermanentPunishments #CleanSlateIL #FullyFree #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs #WomenOfTheMovement #WomensHerstoryMonth

Heather Canuel is a powerful example of resilience, leadership, and transformation. Often referred to as “the last woman to give birth cuffed to a bed” in Illinois, she has turned that experience into a force for change—using her voice to challenge systems and uplift others. As the founder of Art from the Heart, Heather creates healing spaces for youth impacted by incarceration, while her work across organizations like the Women’s Justice Institute and IL-CHEP has helped drive policy change and expand opportunity for directly impacted communities. Whether through advocacy, the arts, or leadership, she is committed to redefining how we see and support people impacted by the carceral system. Let’s honor her this Women’s Month for her strength, her leadership, and her unwavering commitment to healing, justice, and community. #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenLeadJustice #EndPermanentPunishments #CleanSlateIL #FullyFree #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs #WomenOfTheMovement #WomensHerstoryMonth

The poem, Still I Rise, seems apropos when considering the journey of Maria Moon, who has gone through so many of the same struggles that seem to plague most women impacted by the criminal legal system. Nevertheless, she, like so many others, finds ways to overcome. Now, Maria dedicates her life to finding stable and safe housing for others both pre and post-incarceration. As a member of the Chicago Area Fair Housing Alliance (CAFHA), Community Support Advisory Council (CSAC West), a Senior Housing Justice Organizer, the Westside Health Authority, and founder of Return and Arize, a Youth Prevention Program, Maria has certainly risen, by the grace of God, to great heights in service to humanity. You are celebrated as an amazing woman in history! #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenLeadJustice #EndPermanentPunishments #CleanSlateIL #FullyFree #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs #WomenOfTheMovement #WomensHerstoryMonth
