How to help students engage with/ required course readings

Even Google has a negative perception of academic helping. #teachers let’s work to change this mindset this semester.

Student feedback on helping is powerful. Here’s how I ask one student for help on how to help other students with quiz prep:

This morning, I needed help w/ a project. I shared what I did so far, what I still needed and how the help benefited me... & the students & my colleagues & project outcome *BTW my thank you email was sent by 3pm this afternoon!

When a student needs help (they ‘still’ don’t get it) tell them to: 1) Form specific question 2) Rephrase it as needed 3) Show work to find answer on own 4) Consider how a correct answer is just the beginning bit.ly/3cei5qV
