Since many people been asking me how to break this cycle of obsessive self-awareness, I'm going to explain how to do it in the simplest and most effective way possible. First of all, you do not change your mind by fighting with it. Most people spend their lives arguing with their thoughts. They get a negative thought and immediately try to replace it with a positive one. They get anxious and try to calm themselves down. They get angry and try not to be angry. But the mind is very good at fighting itself. It can argue forever. The real change happens when you stop participating and start observing. Suppose a thought appears: "I'm behind in life." Normally you instantly become the thought. Within seconds you're comparing yourself to other people, remembering mistakes, imagining a bad future, and feeling discouraged. But what if you simply noticed it? Noticed that a thought appeared. Just like noticing a bird landing on a tree. You don't have to agree with it. You don't have to disagree with it. You simply see it. The same thing happens with emotions. Imagine anger appears. Most people immediately become the anger. They start replaying conversations. They justify it. They explain why they're right. They build an entire story around it. Observation is different. You notice: "Interesting. Anger is here." You feel the tension in your chest. You notice the urge to argue. You notice the mind trying to replay the event. You notice the desire to be understood. You watch all of it. The important part is that you do not add anything. You do not feed it. You do not continue the story. You simply watch. This is why observation slowly weakens many mental patterns. A thought survives because it keeps getting attention, agreement, resistance, fear, analysis, or reaction. Observation gives it none of those. It is like removing wood from a fire. The fire may continue burning for a while, but eventually it becomes smaller. The same happens with repetitive fears, resentments, insecurities, and compulsive thinking. The goal is not to become emotionless. The goal is not to suppress feelings. The goal is to see clearly. If sadness appears, observe sadness. If fear appears, observe fear. If jealousy appears, observe jealousy. Feel it completely without immediately turning it into a story. Most suffering comes from the story, not the feeling itself. The feeling might last a few minutes. The story can last ten years. As this observation becomes stronger, something else becomes obvious. Thoughts are changing all day long. Emotions are changing all day long. Moods are changing all day long. But something is always there noticing the changes. That noticing is what people call awareness. It does not need to think. It already sees. And many of the insights people spend years searching for arrive the moment they stop arguing with what is happening and simply observe it directly.

People who think they are extremely self-aware are often doing nothing more than turning themselves into a permanent psychological project. Every reaction is analyzed, every emotion is interpreted, every insecurity is examined, every childhood event is revisited. They call it awareness, but most of the time it is simply self-preoccupation with intellectual decoration around it. The ego has not disappeared, it has become the observer, the analyst, the therapist, and the patient all at once. Years can pass this way. The prison remains exactly where it was. Only the description of the prison becomes more sophisticated.

Never carry things on from the past. The past is gone. Every moment be rid of it, solved or unsolved. Drop it - and don't carry parts because those parts won't allow you to solve new problems that live in this moment. Live in this moment as totally as possible, and suddenly you will come to realized, that if you live it totally, it is solved. There is no need to solve it. Life is not a problem to be solved, it's a mystery to be lived. - Osho

If you’d feel embarrassed by what appears on your feed if a stranger looked over your shoulder to see it, your daily habits are reinforcing your shame. Something about what you consume feels unacceptable to you. With every scroll, you erode your confidence and self-esteem.

If you want to increase your ability to concentrate and have more control over your own mind, try this exercise daily for 5 minutes. It was created by one of the most intelligent men of the 20th century, Rudolf Steiner. Use an ordinary object (a pencil, clothe spin, clip, book, etc.) and think about it for five minutes every day. You take an object in front of you or in your mind and the first time you describe it to yourself aloud. You can also imagine yourself describing it to a blind person. Use all your senses and make as many observations as you can in five minutes. Repeat this the next day, you will probably notice new details. After a while you can ask questions about the object: "What can I do with it?", "What is it made of?", "Why this shape?", "What other shapes could it have?", "Where was it made?", "How did I get it?"," How are the raw materials mined?", etc. You will be able to answer some of these questions. If not, you can search for an answer in an encyclopaedia or on the internet. Your should be able to determine whether your thoughts are correct, otherwise your thoughts will wander. which is not the intention. You can repeat what you did the day before and build on your previous thoughts. After some time you will have covered all possible questions, then do it one or two more times until you can really find no more issues to think about. Then follow the same procedure with another object. When doing this exercise you may notice that your thinking gets clearer and sharper, and that your perception, concentration and objectivity increase. Also, your interest grows. The difficulty of the exercise is that your mind wanders. The challenge is to be able to think about the object for five minutes, but you will find that your mind wanders to something else very easily, that your thoughts are associative and work automatically. E.g. you think of a pencil and suddenly you see in your mind your grandma with a pencil in her hand, grandma has a budgerigar and suddenly you are thinking about the whistling of this bird. Interrupt such thoughts: you wanted to think about the pencil. The exercise is called control of the mind. The example just given shows that often there is no control over our thinking. We are thought, our thinking is associative and automatic. We believe that we think, but our thinking is often not focused. Make sure that you do the exercise every day. You can choose a fixed time. Choose a time when you are awake and clear-headed, so not after dinner, but for example before or after breakfast or at 8 o'clock at night. You can also do it while waiting for the train, in a spare moment. Doing the exercise with two or three objects should be sufficient.

You do not have time to do the things you want if you cannot Concentrate and direct your Thinking.

There is a certain type of person everywhere now, especially online. He consumes endless information every day: philosophy, psychology, productivity, spirituality, neuroscience, business, self-improvement, history, political theory, dopamine, discipline, meaning, consciousness. He knows a little about everything and deeply experiences almost nothing. His entire identity becomes built around understanding instead of living. He watches videos about confidence instead of speaking confidently. Reads about discipline instead of becoming disciplined. Studies relationships instead of learning how to love. Consumes motivational content instead of taking action. He feels intelligent because he is constantly mentally stimulated. But stimulation is not transformation. Most of the time, knowledge becomes emotional protection. Reality is unpredictable. Reality humiliates. Reality exposes weakness. Books and ideas do not. Inside information, he can continue imagining himself as intelligent, deep, insightful, different from ordinary people. So he remains trapped in preparation. He constantly feels as if he is “becoming” someone, while his real life remains strangely untouched. He develops sophisticated language for problems he never confronts directly. He can explain human behavior beautifully while being unable to handle ordinary discomfort, rejection, uncertainty, loneliness, or risk. He slowly turns life into observation instead of participation. The internet rewards this personality heavily. He receives validation for sounding aware rather than becoming capable. Eventually, he begins confusing self-analysis with growth and information with wisdom. But beneath the intelligence usually exists the same thing: fear. Fear of failure. Fear of embarrassment. Fear of reality answering back. Because action destroys fantasy. The moment he truly acts, he can no longer hide inside potential.
