Prof. Aisha Mamman’s story began with her early education at ABU Staff School, continued through Secondary School, and culminated in earning her BSc., Master’s and Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance; every stage of her academic pursuit was rooted at ABU, Zaria.

28 Muslims Travellers abducted, including men, women, and children, who were heading to a Maulud gathering in Zak village, Bashar district, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State. The incident happened on Sunday night, around 8 pm, near Sabon Layi. The victims include two princes and a religious leader. The attackers intercepted the vehicle, took everyone, and left the vehicle behind. The community is still searching for the victims, and security agencies have been informed. The Plateau State Police Command is investigating the incident. This is not an isolated case, as Plateau State has been experiencing recurring kidnappings, banditry, and cattle rustling. Residents are calling for increased security measures to protect lives.

This is to strongly condemn the reported abduction of 12 Muslim faithful by armed militias in Plateau State. The victims were reportedly travelling to attend an Islamic gathering in Gaji village, Bashar District, Wase Local Government Area, when they were brutally and unlawfully intercepted and taken. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. This cruel act is unacceptable and constitutes a grave violation of the fundamental rights to life, liberty and freedom of worship. No individual or group should be targeted on the basis of their faith or peaceful religious activities. We humbly call on the relevant security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to secure the immediate and safe release of the abducted persons, identify and apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they are brought to justice. Peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and the rule of law must prevail.

Mother Mary always dressed like Muslim women and worshiped Allah because she was a devout Muslim woman. May Allah’s peace be upon her. If the Almighty Allah blesses me with a daughter, I would like to name her Maryam.

Mary wasn’t wearing a "Muslim dress. There is no such thing as a Muslim dress or a Muslim look. Women in the Levant covered their heads and wore loose garments because that was the culture of the region, long before Islam and long after it. Calling cultural clothing “Islamic fashion” is historically wrong. And yes, Mary is honoured in Islam, and Maryam is a beautiful name. But let’s respect history properly: she dressed like her people, not like a future religion.
