@EssexgoonerMr He famously phoned one of his butlers to come pick up a letter that had fallen off his desk. He also has staff apply a specific amount of toothpaste to his toothbrush every day. The guy is a pampered, entitled imbecile.

@Ethansarn @thatdayin1992 Genocide includes the systematic displacement of a group and doesn't require annihilation. Leveling cities and annexing land qualifies.

@CristusVictor Your post prompted me to do the same. There is something appealing about olive trees. In case anyone is interested, the Arbequina variety is cold resistant and can be grown in much of the US.

@BarakRavid It is incredible how quickly Trump has ruined whatever political capital he had for his second term. To say that he is a disappointment is an understatement.

Infuriating, considering that a European who legally moves to the US as an infant, becomes a citizen, and is indistinguishable from a natural born American is ineligible to be President. Not to say that the European-born American should be eligible, of course, but to point out the absurdity of the scenario you described.

Under birthright citizenship a Chinese tourist baby born in Los Angeles, who spends a few weeks in the USA getting a social security card and a passport, but who grows up entirely in Beijing is eligible to run for President of the United States. He would need to satisfy the 14 year residency requirement, but he could do that with college, grad school and then working for a while. Meanwhile someone like Elon Musk can never be POTUS no matter how much he contributes to the country.

This story is from a 2023 Hamburg trial: German Judge Anne Meier-Göring let eight migrant men go free after they gang r*ped a 15-year-old girl for three hours, ruling “migration frustration” a factor. Freed men are Afghan, Iraqi, Syrian, Moroccan, Turkish, and Bulgarian.

@9mmsmg I’m center right, but if Trump is foolish/compromised enough to send in troops, then he deserves condemnation and contempt. We saw our country plundered in the 2000s by neocons and can’t afford another sell out.

Trump is going to make an important decision soon. This decision will decide if we are a sovereign nation or not. This decision will shape the entire political landscape in midterms dramatically. I'm not a constant doomer, in fact I've lost a large number of followers from being optimistic. If we put boots on the ground in Iran, we've been sold out completely and that's unforgivable. We lost to the likes of Loomer and Levin. Pray he doesn't do what I now believe he is going to do.

Sasha Stone thinks the “agree to needless war or else you hate the troops” argument actually works. Sorry, it was a weak attempt at manipulation back in 2003. Today, it is a joke and exposes you as a bad actor. I will also add that Ms. Stone has no skin the game herself and is a coward for volunteering others to do the dirty work.

Ted Bundy worked for a suicide hotline in the early 1970s. People in a bad way would call, and he would talk them off the ledge. He was apparently good at it. He also worked on a police committee for rape prevention. You always have to wonder about people who want this work.

Linda Campitelli, a 35 year old nurse, was beaten to death with a tire iron on October 28, 2024, in the back of her husband Jon's Chevy Tahoe during a secret hookup in Palm Beach County, Florida. Her mother, Edina Russo, speaking publicly for the first time, expressed horror at the brutality "What kind of a human does that? Animals don't even do that"—and said she had no idea her daughter was cheating on her well-liked doctor husband at the time.

@FischerKing64 It's all so depressing. The Iran debacle just shows that moneyed interests never lost control of Washington. Let's hope that Congress will find some semblance of a spine and draw a line in the sand at boots-on-the-ground before things completely unravel.

A lot of traditional conservatives voted for Obama in 2008 because they were disgusted with pointless foreign wars and a collapsing economy. It would be nice to think people learned lessons from that. But that is expecting too much of people in DC.

Matt, you weren't 'blackpilled' or 'Islamist sympathizers',you were just wrong. Trump launched precision strikes to neutralize a direct threat after years of Obama/Biden weakness that let Iran fund proxies and inch toward nukes. The 'spiral into long war' fear was the same defeatist script used against Soleimani, the Abraham Accords, and every move that actually projected strength instead of endless diplomacy theater. Blind allegiance is bad, but so is reflexive skepticism that treats every assertive action as Iraq 2.0. Results matter more than your vindicated 'concerns' and so far, no endless quagmire, just disrupted terror funding. If Trump gets us out cleanly, great. But pretending early caution was prophetic wisdom while ignoring how restraint invited escalation is peak hindsight cope.

Some of us expressed great concern about the Iran War when it was first launched. We were shouted down and condemned as “panicans” and “blackpillers” and even Islamist sympathizers. But it’s pretty clear from how things have gone that our concerns were absolutely reasonable and legitimate. Maybe Trump will get us out of this thing soon and it still won’t spiral into a long and drawn out war. But even if that happens — and I’m not convinced it will — no thoughtful person can deny at this point that the spiral and long war scenario is very much a possibility. No reasonable person, at this stage, can say that our concerns were irrational. What looks irrational now — and always did — is the demand for blind allegiance and unthinking “trust” in our elected leaders, as though we are called to have faith in politicians like we have faith in God.
