Here’s the exact code from Telegram’s official Android client:

When you edit a message, the server sets edit_date + the MESSAGE_FLAG_EDITED flag. The client always checks these fields (and !edit_hide) to show the “edited” label while keeping the original send timestamp.
There is no code path in the official client to bypass this.
Same as WhatsApp.
So the “indirect way” doesn’t exist. Blocking the entire platform still hurts normal users more than it stops cheaters.
