Incredibly proud of the team at @0xbowio for what they are building. Myself and @Cyph3rVae are grateful that Plutos Capital can play a part in their journey. Without privacy the future looks grim. Yet with privacy pools built by 0xBow there is hope. A future where you can achieve privacy onchain yet dissociate yourself from illicit funds. The morally right thing, without compromising your values. And let's not forget institutions. Without compliance enabled privacy institutional adoption is a fantasy. If you haven't already, check out Privacy Pools and get ready for v2. Many great things are coming. Devs are cracked, and cooking.

@SCBuergel @nicksvyaznoy @EFDevcon still vividly remember Professor Sebastian whipping out a white board marker on practical privacy day to draw out and explain mixnets cause the internet just wasn't cooperating

@nicksvyaznoy @EFDevcon Could you do a speed test at speed.cloudflare.com from both the conference venue wifi and mobile internet connection at the venue and post results? Ideally both results measured during a peak busy day. Internet connection quality was my #1 concern last year.

If you're wondering why every protocol seems to be building wallets, then you should read this! A really detailed take on how wallets nudge user behaviours, how they are "free" (in the same manner as browsers for instance) and how other aspects are monetized

I keep highlighting the concept of "Loss Leader Software" so I finally decided to put down my thoughts. Google Search, Android, Every Major Browser, Web3 wallets, and open core software are loss leaders available for free and funded via alternative means kyledenhartog.com/loss-leader-so…

great writeup for a bit of history on loss leaders and where things are at in the crypto space. if you ever wondered how exactly metamask or other wallet providers are able to keep wallets "free" then this ones for you.

@malekanoms "The property rights of user assets in a permissioned network are exogenous to the system." what a beautiful sentence.

New essay explaining why permissioned networks are not blockchains, have little in common with them, and offer none of the desired features. Permissioned networks don't have tokens. Permissioned networks can't have smart contracts. Permissioned networks will eventually KYC and censor their users. This is a fairly technical argument, but I stand by it. Going forward, I will refuse to call any permissioned network a blockchain or the assets it contains tokens.

very much agree with this article. The below was sent out sometime last year to LPs in response to the announcements of new corpo chains. The idea and discussion is certainly not new. I first grappled with it after watching a MIT btc expo panel (2016, it's on youtube). Yes some intranets are still very common, but it is hard to argue there is no one true internet. Likewise, while some private and permissioned "chains" will always remain, in the grand scheme we will see a consolidation toward a single chain future.

This is what it looks like in practice. Private credential verification without revealing the underlying data.
ZKPassport@ZKPassport

Private credential verification is live on the @TACEO_io Network, and ZKPassport is one of the first applications running on it. What does that mean? Your attributes can be verified without ever revealing your personal data. This is what zero-knowledge identity verification looks like in production.

Dear, @ethereumfndn manager, Hope this message will find you 🖤 1. First-mover. We already announced Ethereum Cypherpunk Congress great lineup ahead of everyone else with people from @brave to @torproject: congress.web3privacy.info 2. Coordination challenges. But feeling lack of coordination with Foundation to make "mandate" impactful from communal side: • our previous contacts were restructured or even left; • nice @EFDevcon team is still at the beginning of programming journey & potential communal co-outreach; • there's uncertainety around event support (EPS stop supporting events like Congress, prioritizing academia or RFPs); • there's a lack of dialogue from @ethereumfndn side to support Cypherpunk Congress (from helping to convince @mer__edith from Signal to come to matching with digital rights orgs where you have good contacts); Would love to understand how to "talk to" foundation, allign & streamline impact towards same values & principles. Sincerely yours, Ethereum Cypherpunk Congress team.

Privacy's quiet week tells the real story. $LOCK up 8.1% while majors chop sideways, $SNT and $ZAMA following close behind. The sector doesn't need headlines to move anymore - it just needs patient capital rotating out of noise into infrastructure that actually works.

Whenever I start dating a new girl, I contact my last 5 ex-girlfriends and pay for an all expenses trip for them to fly in and be at a dinner together Me, the current girl, the 5 exes. A table of 7 Then, I have the current girl explain to all the other girls why she alone deserves to steal me from all the other girls The dinner lasts 4 hours so everyone gets an opportunity to talk I remain silent for the 4 hours All exes are allowed to ask any questions they like to the new girl. But they must also allow the new girl at least 60 seconds to respond to each question before asking the subsequent question As someone who believes in compassion above all other qualities, it’s important for me to let each woman in the room fully understand the moral context and potential harm of her own actions The current girl isn’t just beginning a new relationship on a blank slate. She’s actively choosing to deny all the other women of a lifetime of happiness and love She shouldn’t be in denial about this. She should face it directly and acknowledge it, by staring directly into the eyes of all the others women, feeling their pain and fielding their questions. And if she truly has no adequate response, she should accept this and leave prior to the 4 hours being up At the end of the 4 hours, all exes vote privately and anonymously as to whether the new girl deserves to remain with me (and therefore deprive them of a lifetime of happiness) If all women at the table vote “she does NOT deserve it”, then my payment for their trip is reversed and they must all pay for their flights/hotels Likewise, if all women at the table vote that “she DOES deserve it, then likewise the payment for their trip is reversed and they must all pay The only acceptable composition of votes is a mixture of both yes and no This means everyone at the table has an incentive to defect from a unanimous consensus in either direction, so no woman can ever benefit from covertly trying to influence all the other women into voting a certain way Additionally, before the dinner begins, I always write down privately (with no observers) whether I believe the current girl is the right one, then I place it in an envelope stuck underneath the dinner table It either says “she is the one” Or “she is not the one” The new girl has no idea this prediction exists The 5 exes only know this prediction may sometimes happen based on prior dinners they attended, but they are never given any confirmation that a prediction has been made and/or matters In truth, only the prediction I made prior to the dinner determines the future of the relationship. It is fixed and never changes. The vote by the exes has zero impact on it However, the vote does determine whether I pay for all of the exes trips, so long as their votes also satisfy the rules before of no unanimous verdicts If the exes make a majority vote in alignment with the prediction I placed under the table prior to the dinner, then I pay for everything If it is at odds with the prediction, then I pay for nothing When the new girl walks into the room, she believes she is being evaluated by all the other women If she tries to perform for the room and respond strategically to what is asked of her by the exes, she is acting locally rational by thinking the dinner is the game she must win. In actuality, the game ended before the dinner began Likewise, if she is simply herself then she can “win” by being exactly who I evaluated her to be prior to the dinner beginning However, regardless of whether the vote matches my prediction or not, I always break up with the new girl Because a girl who is genuinely worth choosing would always refuse to attend out of her own moral reasoning, since the entire dinner is designed to systematically selects against the quality it pretends to test for One day, when a girl says no despite my complete deadpan insistence that she must attend for weeks on end, then I will marry her in a heartbeat
