@DrTregoning My interpretation from his letter was that Ian chapman was as backfooted as everyone else by the new ‘strategy’, and the ‘pause’ to restructure is a front to scrabble alignment with new, wholly unclear and ill thought out government priorities… would love to hear how wrong I am
Bitterly disappointing that the UK has lost its Measles elimination status again.

RFK Jr seriously needs to keep his mouth shut. You don’t get to tell women to “just breastfeed” in a country with no national paid leave, no guaranteed paid pumping breaks at work, no affordable childcare, and workplaces that barely accommodate lactating parents. Breastfeeding isn’t just a choice, it’s a system dependent behavior. If you want to promote it, you’d better start with the systems that make it possible.
The reason why our local Blackbirds were going absolutely nuts at dusk today: this magnificent migrant Long-eared Owl perched on a bale handler behind the barns here at Hillwell, Shetland.

The FOMO was too much to bear. I blasted up Ben Cleuch tonight to get the sunset, hoping I’d emerge from the gloom. The good news is that I did, and my goodness was it worth it.
Jane Goodall had a remarkable ability to inspire us to connect with the natural wonders of our world, and her groundbreaking work on primates and the importance of conservation opened doors for generations of women in science. Michelle and I are thinking of all those who loved and admired her.
One of the great things about living near the Forth at this time of the year is the geese migration. Tonight’s showing was one of the best I’ve seen in years. Here’s a short snippet.
This was early on in my days crewing Laz as he walked across America for the third time. Despite a blocked femoral artery, Graves' Disease, fused vertebrae in his neck, and a recent stent in a carotid, he walked 10 hours a day. #theenduranceartist
People don’t realize how safe and effective acetaminophen is for pain and fever. By scaring people away from Tylenol, fevers will either go untreated (dangerous, especially for young children and fetuses) or NSAIDs will take its place, which carry much more significant side effects, like stomach ulcers or kidney injury. It’s not hyperbole to say the president yelling at people not to take this medication will lead to deaths.
Great to see our review article about RNA vaccines out

Phewww it was some journey getting to preprint but finally here we are! Awesome fun collaboration with *ten* @roslininstitute labs represented and wider collabs too, showing that diverse IAVs can replicate in cow udders, with biggest credit to @RuteMPintobiorxiv.org/content/10.110…
@DrTregoning@roslininstitute@RuteMPinto The source, you mean of other flu strains getting into cow? Could be, could be outdoor grazing with migrating geese stopping off for a blether
@DrTregoning@roslininstitute@RuteMPinto Goats, are you kidding? 🤪🤪 currently pestering our wonderful Roslin colleagues for sheep mammary organoids! Not aware of anyone having goat though
