Anyone whose instinct is towards statism is a socialist. I realise there are varying degrees of it but conceptually, those people are collectivists and believe in central planning. Whether that has a national or international flavour is basically irrelevant.

We can argue about whether the National Socialists were socialists. But let’s shift the debate. Were the National Socialists statists? Did they - like the Communists - believe the state is the centre of all economic, social and political power and control?
