One question I get asked a lot by upcoming producers is, “how do I know the right kick, snare, or perc to use?” I had the same question when I started too, and the only real answer is “pick the one you like, the one that resonates with you most”. If you keep doing that consistently, over time you’ll build a collection of samples that naturally shape your signature sound. Don’t pick a sample just because you heard it in a song or saw another producer use it. Build your own taste, it’ll help you a lot in the long run.
