@DrMigly @WinC_Gaming There's been a few games on Steam with games similar to SoT in space. Not totally 1 for 1 though.

@WinC_Gaming Why isn't there a space version of SoT already? Microsoft can't stop missing the mark, especially seen with the mishandling of Halo. How haven't they noticed that they've been losing so much money by constantly making the worst decisions?

Sea of Thieves could have been in for some sizeable exposure when a popular streamer fired it up, only to be thwarted by a DDoS attack. Anyone else think we don't talk about Sea of Thieves enough anymore? windowscentral.com/gaming/pc-gami…

Solos is coming to Black Ops Royale tomorrow! As a reminder, this mode was originally designed and balanced to launch as a Quads experience. While we recognize the strong interest in a Solos option, please be aware that gameplay is not yet fully tuned for a single player experience. We'll be keeping an eye open for feedback as we continue to make adjustments and improvements! GLHF.
Call of Duty Updates@CODUpdates

📢 Call of Duty: #Warzone Black Ops Royale Solos will be added to playlists tomorrow at 10 AM PT. This will include both the public playlist and a private match option.

It's a lot of fun. Do think there are way too many grapples everywhere, basically feels like it's just a permanent item, which leads to extremely aggressive and fast paced play. Whether thats a good thing long term or not, not sure yet. Biggest issue right now is lack of Solos/Duos probably. Casuals probably don't have a quad to play with regularly, so you're at the mercy of maybe getting a decent team that plays together. Why they wouldn't launch with Duo's is crazy.

Black Ops Royale has lowered the barrier to entry for casual players to be on a level playing field with everyone else by removing the need to level meta weapons up. However, the feedback I’ve seen from casual players is that they hate the mode and are leaving in masses. The gameplay itself definitely favors sweatier players, but I want to hear from any of you who consider yourself casual, what do you think of Black Ops Royale / Blackout 2.0? Are your casual friends playing or enjoying the mode? Let me know, I’m tryna see something.

@ChochoP0P @thomasmahler @longislandviper U think PC players are subbing to PS Plus to play CoD on console? They can also buy those skins on PC. Maybe a few. Im not even saying Sony isnt right for their decision, but they really dont make much off PC players only buying a few exclusives.

@JPDunks4 @thomasmahler @longislandviper Lets say 5% of ALL the PC players that bought the PS6 for its exclusives actually subscribe to PS Plus and buy skins in Call Of Duty or something because they wanted to play in the living room for a change, isnt that better and more growth and more revenue than 0%? Lol

@longislandviper You have your blinders on here. You need to look at both the publishers AND the developers perspective. PC ports clearly generate quite a bit of dough. That revenue isn’t just about moving the needle for Sony Publishing. For individual studios, that extra revenue source can be extremely meaningful: You spend 100m and 4-5 years building a game. A large portion of that revenue goes towards recouping costs for the publisher, so they're fat and happy. But are your actual developers fat and happy, too? If I'm a dev and I see that doing a PC port costs me only 3-4 months of work and can generate significant profits because we already recouped costs, that can translate into better bonuses for the team, larger budgets for the next project, longer runway for the next thing (more time to polish), more resources to hire talent, more leverage internally, etc. For Sony, that revenue might be bupkis. But for a developer, those crumbs off the table might feed you for another month or two or three. There’s also a talent-retention angle here. High-performing developers want to feel their work reaches the widest possible audience and maximizes upside. If I know I'm sitting on a potential goldmine, but my publisher tells me no because of 'company policy', how do you think that'll make me feel? This here is exactly why we at Moon ended up making a deal with a 3rd party publisher after we finished the Ori series since it was clear that we'd have more chance of success if we'd service everyone out there, not just a segment of the potential playerbase. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the execs at Sony never cared much about doing PC ports, but got essentially strongarmed by their developers to go with it anyway since it's basically free money. You already did all the work, you're now just allowing a larger audience to actually play it and support you - what's not to love?
Colin Moriarty@longislandviper

I've encouraged Sony to embrace PC & Switch for years. But it's fair to say that at 1.5% gross revenue (most of it HD2) PC releases aren't moving the needle. That 1.5% must outweigh any detriment to your ecosystem. This is a version of what Xbox learned the hard way w/ GamePass.

@yuvalask @thomasmahler @longislandviper Do you think someone that buys a PS5 just to buy a handful of exclusives but nothing else is worth losing potential millions of additional sales on PC?

@thomasmahler @longislandviper 1st party PC ports, for Sony, sometimes mean losing a costumer from your ecosystem. I did not plan on buying the next PlayStation, certainly not at launch - solely because I’m also a PC gamer and I can wait a year or two if it means not buying a console just for the exclusives.

@thomasmahler @longislandviper You cant really compare what a PC port means to you as a small indie studio to what it means to a multi billion dollars *platform holder* that gets most of thier revenue on selling thier own hardware and getting player engagement with microtransactions and online subscriptions..

"Guys, is anyone going to support this game?" Deadlock flops, streamer freaks out. I had to cut his rant short. He went on for another 10 minutes. It was the usual, "I like the game, I'm learning it, but I need your buy in."

I’m a Real Estate expert. In NYC, commercial tenants are customarily responsible for any increases in property taxes. This means small business owners, like the bodegas Mamdani claims to love so much, will foot the bill of higher property taxes. And given how small their profit margins are, a 9.5% hike will be absolutely devastating. This is what it looks like when you hire an inexperienced mayor who doesn’t understand how property taxes work.
New York Post@nypost

Mayor Zohran Mamdani has declared that property taxes will require a 9.5% hike across NYC to make up for Gov. Kathy Hochul's refusal to hike taxes on NY's wealthy. nypost.com/2026/02/17/us-…

@Avargrist @thomasmahler Nah Cosmetic MTX in these kinds of games are horrible. The coolest looking loot get locked behind MTX instead of actual difficult content and accomplishment. Then you have Lvl 1s walking around looking cooler than maxed out characters

If we ever put a MTX Battle Pass or Microtransactions into one of our games, feel free to walk up to me and kick me in the balls as a reminder to not join the dark side. I strongly feel that quality will always win out in the end because people aren't stupid. The relationship between developers and players always has to be a fair one that tilts in favor of players because players ultimately decide if we get to keep going or not. The developer is the servant and ultimately has the final say, but developers ought to always keep in mind that they're serving the people, not themselves. We will always work hard to provide insane value at a reasonable price and in turn you folks get something of extremely high quality and continue to salivate towards what we're doing next. And that's how it should be. What happened in the past 2 decades or so I consider noise. Any developer who still sells horse armor or allows their game design to get corrupted in order to nickel and dime people on the backend clearly didn't get the memo. Times have changed: Greed isn't good. And Gordon Gekko went to jail in the end.
