What do I tell my kids about Santa Clause? A few general parenting principles that guide my decision making: 1. I will not lie to my kids. 2. I want to promote a biblical-imaginative framework 3. My kids don't exist for my entertainment A few other realities: 1. St. Nicholas is ALIVE in Christ 2. The Spirit that inspired St. Nick inspires us 3. St. Nicholas was a pastor 4. St. Nick is part of the cloud of witnesses 5. Santa aka St. Nick is everywhere Some of the things I say to my kids: 1. Santa clause aka St. Nick aka Father Christmas is a real person. He died, but he's alive and with Jesus. 2. The memory of St. Nick inspires us to give gifts on Jesus' birthday. 3. It's fun to pretend that Santa brings gifts, but also, his spirit and memory live through us when we're generous. 4. Let other kids pretend that Santa brings them gifts; he sort of does, because Santa reminds parents to give good gifts to their kids. 5. Pretending is no fun when we say "we're pretending" all the time. Sometimes kids are pretending so much they don't know they're pretending. Don't tell them they're pretending. 6. St. Nick was a bible teacher, like your dad, who fought hard for sound, biblical doctrine. Some say he punched Arius in the face for saying that Jesus wasn't truly God and truly man. So, in addition to inspiring generosity, Santa should inspire us to tell the truth about Jesus, read his word, and punch heretics. 😀 7. I have my six year old write "from Santa" on gifts we're giving to other people in the family and we pray, "thank you Jesus for St. Nicholas who was a good gift giver and reminds us to be generous." 8. "Do you believe in Santa Clause?" The answer is "YES." or "Yes, but not like other people."

I don’t think people truly do understand how HARD it is to do what Oklahoma & Ohio State have done for 25 years.
