How do K2 Black Panther tanks handle muddy terrain so well? I thought Korea was all mountains.

@TasTrans4life The ROKAF has roughly 180 F-16s across three batches. The 140 units from the 90s and early 2000s have the newest airframes. Because they have plenty of life left, 134 are being upgraded to the Block 72 standard. The 1980s jets won't be upgraded; they'll be replaced by the KF-21.

@KDefenseInsight How many of the KF 16s batches that ROKAF did they procure and has a relative new airframe?

@TasTrans4life Correct. The KF-16 upgrade to Block 70 is well underway, but it's mainly for the newer batches. The older ones are slated for replacement by the KF-21—at this stage, it makes more sense to invest in the Boramae than to keep sinking money into aging hulls.

@KDefenseInsight For 4 decades the ROKAF kept those planes in good condition but I read somewhere that some KF 16s will be upgraded into Blk 70 standards

@zeNDoSC_ It’s definitely a double standard where one side has to worry about escalation and public accountability, while the other feels free to act without those guardrails.

@zeNDoSC_ I totally get that frustration. It often feels like the West and its allies are playing chess by the book, while the other side is playing a different game entirely.

Tensions rise as the #RussianEmbassy in Seoul ignores MOFA’s request to remove a "Victory is Ours" banner. Ahead of the Ukraine war's 4th anniversary, #Seoul calls it a "diplomatic discourtesy," yet the Vienna Convention prevents forced removal. m.yonhapnewstv.co.kr/news/AKR202602…

@zeNDoSC_ Of course, not all Koreans agree with that approach, but you know how politics goes.

@zeNDoSC_ Plus, there are local political dynamics. The current ruling party prioritizes inter-Korean stability above all else. They view antagonizing Russia as a direct threat to Seoul because it pushes Moscow to give North Korea even more advanced military tech.

In exchange for troop deployments, #Russia is providing #NorthKorea with advanced military technology for satellites, missiles, and air defense. NK is also gaining critical modern combat experience in drone warfare. google.com/amp/s/www.yna.…

Is there anything #Indonesia hasn't asked for regarding #KF21? It’s a cycle of demands: a discount, dual-seaters, a loan, slashing orders to 16, now wanting the prototype back. Guess the loan didn't work out? At this point, the only thing consistent is their inconsistency.
Hwarang@KDefenseInsight

#SouthKorea is drawing a hard line on #Indonesia: 🚫 No loans for Indonesia’s 7.5% cost share, or for the purchase of KF-21 units. 🚫 No "in-kind" payments. 🚫 Zero commissions for Indonesian politicians. The terms remain firm: Cash only, no kickbacks.

The math doesn't favor #Indonesia here. Since prototypes cost significantly more than mass-produced jets, slashing their funding share likely prevents a prototype transfer. They’ve essentially stepped back from the deal they originally sought. #KF21Boramae

@hoteliercrypto Production in Indonesia was always contingent on meeting financial obligations—you don't get the full manual if you only pay for the cover. 3/

@hoteliercrypto Even in a partnership, you only get the Korean tech you’ve paid for, when you pay for it. You can't stop payments, try to take data that hasn't been cleared for transfer yet, and then call it 'access.' 2/
