Does anyone have a good site/tutorial/course on lighting 3D scenes? Doesn't need to be specific to any particular game engine, just something that will help a beginner get a feel for how to approach the subject. For some HS students that are working on a project.

@ProWriterHarry Since they're both areas, you need to use the `area_entered` signal, not `body_entered`. The latter fires when physics bodies enter the area.

@KidsCanCode 2/2 ...and the orc is an Area2D with an AnimatedSprite2D, CollisionShape2D, and label; collision detection is using Area2D's 'on_body_entered' signal on the bottom burger bun. I've also tested without adding any pieces, and that doesn't detect collision either

Combo #ScreenshotSaturday and cry for help. New project in #godot called Burger Chief about making burgers to feed orcs after a battle. Having some difficulty with collisions (1/2)

@ProWriterHarry What node types are the burger and the orc? How are you moving them both, and how are you attempting to detect the collision?

(2/2) What's *supposed* to happen is that on key inputs the burger adds ingredients as child scene instances, and start moving right when the top bun is put on. Then, when it collides with the orc, it heals them and destroys itself. Collision layers are the same, I'm stumped.

Here's part 2 of the series on working with 3D characters in #GodotEngine . This time, we look at how to use AnimationTree to set up our character's animations. Available in video or text form. youtu.be/YrNQCB34PAc Next, we'll make a character controller.

@TokisanGames As for the automatic opening, I thought about it, but I also wanted to demonstrate interactions.

@KidsCanCode Do your doors open backwards based on the side interacted with? Consider adding that. Also consider opening them automatically, as done in Witcher 3.

How to learn math for games? Sometimes it's very confusing to work with velocity, angle, sin, cos.. this is easy for me when I study math, but very confusing when I code a game #godotengine #godot #unity #unityengine

@GameDevDurein In Godot 4, tiles can have custom metadata. I would use that to assign "names" to tiles.

@KidsCanCode Did you ever port it to 4.0 though? Not being able to name the individual tiles definitely caused some frustration with the doors.

It's a great time to start learning #GodotEngine and my new book can help! amzn.to/3qcOZ4E 5 complete game projects (2D and 3D) to help you learn the ins-and-outs of this great OSS engine. If you're trying out the projects, @ me with screenshots of your game(s).

@kurotesuta Well, without knowing what frustrated you, it's hard to say. I think Godot is very easy to get started with, and I think it was 2 years ago, too. But then again the whole reason I came to Godot in the first place was that I didn't care for Unity, so take that for what it's worth.
