OK so I plotted the offensive and defensive differentials by their conference. This should be a good way to find any outlier schools in your conference. Tomorrow I'll make one just using conference games to REALLY see which teams are dominating their conference :) #NCAAWVB D1
Looks like @CoachRey had the same idea in 2009. IPE or HErr% is an effective tool for evaluating hitters without punishing non-kills. Another one I like is Kills per Error because it's usually easier to increase KPE with less errors versus more kills.
BECAUSE when you model with hitting efficiency there's a strong emphasis on kills. You lose the positive impact unseen from non-kills like forcing the opponent out of system. It's like looking at a QBs reception rate only when first downs are made.
