To clear up my stance: The community note is wrong. The racist undertones of TLM’s Int’l box office are real. Some White and what I’ll call ‘Whiteness subscribing’ audiences have bought into the idea of Ariel’s Whiteness so deeply that they cannot stand a Black actor playing her.

@notcapnamerica T’Challa and Miles Morales are inherently Black; their being Black is narratively significant. People are up in arms about Ariel’s race swap because they erroneously saw her as inherently White; she never was. That’s why looking at BP vs TLM is a false comparison.
