Recent immigrants across Canada are increasingly becoming homeowners while rates for Canadian-born citizens continue to decline, according to a new Statistics Canada report 🏡📉
StatsCan found more than 85 per cent of recent immigrants who owned a home in their first year had previously lived in Canada on work or study permits or asylum claims
The report also found at least 1 in 10 refugees became homeowners within five years of settling in Canada and that recent immigrants are purchasing more expensive homes than Canadian-born first-time buyers 👀

🇬🇧 STARMER HAS NO MANDATE FOR A SURVEILLANCE STATE
Keir Starmer says he will continue delivering the agenda he was elected on.
The problem is that mass online surveillance, digital ID checks, facial recognition requirements and internet censorship were never put to the British people.
No one voted for this.
No one was asked whether they wanted the Government monitoring access to social media or expanding state control over the internet.
This was not in the manifesto.
Starmer is governing as though he has a mandate for measures the public were never given the chance to approve.

"It was whether or not you could go after someone who you discovered was a habitual drug user in this case marijuana."
"And then disqualify them from owning or possessing a gun. The court has got a unanimous opinion essentially. There are all kinds of factions and concurrences, but nobody's dissenting here saying that the prosecution of this individual or going after this individual based on his drug usage and gun ownership violates the Second Amendment."

I saw the play for every major dystopian policy the Liberals would enact in the next 6 years. I had no idea how right I would be. I was always kinda hoping I would be wrong.

That detail alone appears to speak to the reach of China’s security apparatus into Cambodian police operations.

Millions of Canadians are beginning to see the similarities between communist regimes and the direction of current government policy. The pattern is always the same. It begins with noble promises: safety, equality, compassion, protection, the greater good. It ends with censorship, coercion, surveillance, prisons, ruined lives, and a police state. Always. It comes wrapped in slogans, experts, committees, emergency powers, censorship, enemies of the people, and the belief that the state has the right to crush the individual for the greater good. C-2 - Strong Borders Act C-22 - Lawful Access Act C-34 - Safe Social Media Act C-36 - Protecting Privacy and Consumer Data Act C-9 - Combatting Hate Act C-25 - Strong and Free Elections Act S-209 - Protecting Young Persons from Exposure to Pornography Act All seven are live in the 45th Parliament right now. None has received royal assent yet. Consider that good, law-abiding Canadians are being gradually and systematically disarmed. This is not a warning about some distant future. In 2022 the federal government invoked emergency powers it did not have, froze the bank accounts of citizens over their political views, and banned Canadians from funding a protest. Two levels of court have since ruled it unconstitutional - a violation of the very Charter rights every one of these bills now circles. That was the trial run. It needed an emergency as the excuse. The seven bills above are the permanent version - the same reach, made routine - so that next time, no emergency need be declared at all. A free country is not lost in a single day. It is legislated away in pieces, each one introduced with a reassuring name and defended as necessary, while good people keep assuring themselves it could never happen here. It already did. The only question is whether enough Canadians notice before it becomes permanent. Read every bill. Watch every one of them. This seems like a pretty common sense thing to have.
How come they can send $22 billion to Ukraine, spend $30 billion on First Nations, but don’t have the budget to warn about extreme weather events.

I am very upset about the tornado in the Peace Country. It was radar-indicated, and @environmentca didn’t lift a finger. It turned into a violent wedge tornado that could have killed many. Alberta needs to stop depending on the Feds. They are inept and will get us killed. It’s time for Alberta to run its own severe weather service. We should mimic the @NWS in the United States, including timely mobile phone alerts when you are in the path and a tornado siren system built into the phone alert system. Albertan lives are at stake.
