I've decided to refactor more of the Nature Elements extension to make upcoming features easier to implement - LODs and water. So it will be easier to reuse frustum, camera, and culling data. And noticeably faster when dealing with 50K+ objects! #gamedev #indiedev #gdevelop

Posted the GDevelop foliage extension on GitHub. As an old school dev getting back into it - this is my first time actually using GitHub 😅 seems like there's an issue, but I'm to tired to fix it right now. Tomorrow is the day (night?)!

@M1ndPrison Very interesting post! Though, as a graph and stats person myself, I would have preferred this clarification in the graph itself for clarity and transparency.

There are no numbers, it is representation for how it works in principle. Which is why it is titled "scaling potential". The nefarious use scales to the limits of available compute, whatever that number may be. However, nearly every productive use cannot scale freely to such limits as it requires typically human verifiers. The graphic is from my post about AI hallucinations: mindprison.cc/p/ai-hallucina…

The barriers for productive use of AI still remain higher than nefarious use.

People that say “I’m scared F1 will become Formula E!!!” have, in fact, never seen a Formula E race in their lives.

@frentzen_hh I'd rather watch a few races first. I don't know how much of that is "these regulations are bad", and how much is "we got the regulations wrong" / "This will be difficult for ME as a driver".

After listening to the Drivers, In my opinion F1 should rethink their energy storage recovery philosophy and Wing/Downforce configuration. Here one example concept. First they should run basically a lot more wing but still be retractable. When the wings come down they have more effect from being bigger wings at base but create more downforce in the corners. Second, energy recovery should only be done manually by the driver, for example when wings comes down a certain amount of charge should happen at the same time but still accelerate faster than on full wings. But driver himself is in charge and responsible.. What do think?

Refactoring of the foliage extension is going well, but slowly. I managed to almost triple the view distance and the number of instanced objects while keeping performance similar to the previous version. Still more work to do. #gamedev #indiedev #gdevelop

@MarcosCodas A long shot, but since you're here, I encountered a bug in the engine (I think) that makes me unable to use unlit materials with the extension. Posted about it in the forums 12 days ago. Not sure if the dev team is aware of it... forum.gdevelop.io/t/basic-materi…
