Why are there baseball tournaments in January? January should be build-up. Instead it’s max effort, cold bodies, tired arms, and bad decisions. This can’t seriously be considered smart development. And parents buy into this?

Once both dugouts spend 7 innings chirping—players, coaches, even parents—the respect is already gone. Lining up afterward doesn’t undo it. It just checks a box. Sportsmanship isn’t postgame. It’s how you act during the game.

A lot of high school players in the Northeast seriously underestimate NAIA baseball. There are NAIA programs that would beat a lot of D2 teams and compete just fine with mid-level D1s. If you can play, you can play!

High school baseball is different. It’s about pride. Your school. Your teammates. Your town. The logo on your chest. It’s about community, brotherhood, and meaning. Play for something bigger.
