I don't care that you have 30 years of experience. Our shared experiences over the last 17 are likely the same and cover different eras. Broadcasting to our group that you have an additional 13 years of experience just makes you an asshole. Not a collaborator.

I work in a field now where IT comms with other IT regularly. I'm one of those. A quick way to piss me off is to tell me how much experience you have when I'm asking the simple stuff. If you care to tell me how much experience you have, you know how important that shit is.

@personalhimbo What if overrun is the new telesto and was the reason the game was breaking?

of the few games i played today, some fill on my team with ttv in his name complained that the overrun felt the exact same and i breathed a sigh of relief because it meant i wasn’t as washed as i thought i was

People often want to solve life's issue by identifying the black and white and categorizing it thusly. But there is no way to make life *frictionless*. And you cannot always split the gray into equal parts black and white.

In Physics, I heard a common refrain when solving problems. "Block A is sliding along a *frictionless surface*..." It being "frictionless" is to aid your ability to solve an issue with fundamental premise. Sadly, the world is not this.

@SilenceOfAura @nathINSANE Side note: I'm so so tired of everyone being a games journalist and analyzing every facet of a game to determine whether or not it is suitable for them or others. Sometimes a game simply plays well and rewards those playing within it's rules. Marathon is one of them.

@SilenceOfAura @nathINSANE The progression system has me currently not caring about loot at all. I will agree that your ability to access your progression being based on success alone is tough and it looks like they are shifting that with this upcoming season a bit.

Boycotting a genuinely good game in Marathon that has time to evolve into something more is so misguided. The only shot a Destiny 3 is made is if Sony feels there is juice to squeeze out of the studio and IP. Marathon failing will just ensure Destiny 3 never gets made.

Cannot believe @Aztecross went here but man…Destiny has an incredible community willing to fight. Guardians really do make their own fate. #WeWantDestiny3

@SilenceOfAura @nathINSANE Bringing up Destiny in context with Bungie and Marathon as a whole isn't off-base, is all. Considering both are affected by the same online discourse. I do think pvp lite and pve modes will do more to keep people going. It's a matter if more people show up and stick with it.

@MikeL2D @nathINSANE Again why are we bringing up Destiny? Did Arc Raiders get compared to Destiny? No! I'm comparing Marathon to Arc Raiders and if u say Arc is very casual.. Marathon is on the same path with PvP Lite & PvE Mode.. So S2 really will kinda just go to show if casual is what it needed.

@SilenceOfAura @nathINSANE I'm mentioning Destiny because it's Bungie developed and can be correlated via it's retention. It's fine if you'd like to disregard it, but the numbers speak for themselves.

@MikeL2D @nathINSANE Destiny usually retained 50-80K+ On Steam alone with Consoles contributing even more since I could be wrong but Steam wasn't D2's primary platform. Also why are we talking about D2 when the argument is Marathon is simply a decent game not a good game?

@SilenceOfAura @nathINSANE Again, I don't think it being good/not good counters how brutal the game is to progress in at times. The difference between this game and say Destiny is that it will chew some players up and spit them out. Destiny had escape avenues. This doesn't.

@MikeL2D @nathINSANE You are one of the loyal few I mentioned.. If it's a good game it should've retained the 80K some players by atleast 60-70%... I loved Arc Raiders (as a pure PvP player) and hated Marathon.. Am I willing to give it another chance? Yes during the free week! I hope it's good by S2

@SilenceOfAura @nathINSANE Marathon is a new, niche game, that not all Destiny fans can call 'home'. It's simply not for them. But there is a broader market of those BR/Extraction gamers that will absolutely love this game that have either not yet played it, or have heard all of this discourse and won't.

@SilenceOfAura @nathINSANE I'm not debating with you that 11k from 88k isn't a large drop off. My point is that this isn't a surprise. Destiny did this annually for literal years. It would lose half it's player based the month after every expansion lol.

@SilenceOfAura @nathINSANE That's a large assumption there, no? I'm one of those 11k and I really like it. The game has reviewed extremely well from every outlet and player since it's launch. As it turns out, I enjoy this style of game. Arc Raiders turned me on to it, I stepped forward with Marathon.

@MikeL2D @nathINSANE Out Of 88K if 11K decided it was good that does not mean it's Good.. That just means those players spent money, now can't refund and might aswell squeeze whatever they can out of their investment.. While there are surely players who think it's a great game that number is low.

@SilenceOfAura @nathINSANE Not to be pedantic but you aren't looking at retention. You're looking at drop off range. Every game goes through swells and drops. For over the last month the numbers have been largely stable - during a period where content is exhausted.

@MikeL2D @nathINSANE You know what is an indicator? Player Retention.. 88K Peak yet all I see is 4-8K at any given time on any day.. Max I've seen is 12K but that was ONCE. Where are the others? If it's a good game why didn't they stay?

@SilenceOfAura @nathINSANE My point is that Among Us was a good game before it caught numbers. We get so wrapped up in numbers and don't understand that every game has it's niche. Not everything is built like a live service or MMO. People don't need to be talking about something for it to be quality.

@SilenceOfAura @nathINSANE To the numbers point - when did Among Us become a "good game"? Before or after it exploded? The people with the most exposure to Marathon are people who play Bungie games - and this game isn't necessarily for all of them. It needs to expand to find the right market.

@SilenceOfAura @nathINSANE Numbers aren't inherently an indicator of quality. Arc Raiders is also -supremely- casual compared to Marathon. I like both games, but enjoy what Marathon provides way more than Arc Raiders. But also this rhetoric about Bungie doesn't help in the slightest.
