I think employers should consider NYSC status, but they shouldn’t use it as an automatic disqualifier in every situation. Skills, attitude, and potential matter too.

My answer: No… but it shouldn’t be the first thing employers look at. Too many qualified candidates get filtered out before they even get a chance to prove themselves.

And finally, for better candidate quality Top people won’t apply blind. They have jobs already. A salary range filters in people who are actually in that bracket, so HR interviews fewer unqualified/wrong-expectation candidates. So yea, very important.

Secondly, it builds trust from day 1… Some candidates ghost companies that hide pay then lowball at offer stage. Disclosing early = “we’re transparent”. You get better talent applying, not just desperate applicants. Which is good for the employer, I’d say.

But seriously, I think it has to do with the already laid out default structure laid down in this country. I think that’s where the problem is. And most undergraduates keep doing the same thing over and over again. Only a few have thought to break that pattern.
