@OneOClockGun Various areas in the New Forest still hold an abundance of these birds. Most places there with wet woodland and mature beech woodland will hold populations of Lesser Spots.

A selection of the 10 Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers seen yesterday. Only 2 drummed and only 1 of those for any duration, most calls heard were a weak short laugh, 3 of the birds were seen in pairs, one pair was interacting with a 3rd bird. They are ready to breed.
