If I recall, only one chamber is on record saying they’re okay leaving this session with a “level funded” education budget. Hint: the @MSHouseOfRep is not that chamber. Our “way” is $3.001b in education funding ~record amounts~ by and through a formula that sends the money to the students & districts that need it the most. #INSPIRE

I had the best time helping these #GirlScouts from St. Andrew’s Troop 4417 earn their “democracy badge” this afternoon. The girls had lots of ideas for new laws - including mandatory price ceilings on @taylorswift13 tickets, increasing teacher pay, and eliminating homework.

@Pannell64 @MSFreePress @tatereeves @MSGOP I actually do the read the bills and made an amendment to have issues in the bills fixed. The amendment passed but wasn’t incorporated into the bill text correctly. This wasn’t realized until after the bill was in the Senate.

@ManSwac @JeremyEnglandMS @jallen1985 Here’s the vote count on the bill I authored. It was a very close vote. I just glanced at the list and I don’t think I saw a single Dem in the list that voted for the bill (if I missed someone I stand corrected).

@JeremyEnglandMS @jallen1985 @RepShandaYates Apparently it wasn't important enough for other Republicans to leave their committee meetings to vote on or this was their way of getting around voting no so they be on record voting against it. I'm for the bill because once we get past the voter suppression, we can change things

And @LeeYanceyMS made the same point about racial polarization that @ZakiyaSummers made. #MSleg can help reduce racial polarization. E.g. the local initiative process I want them to pass could allow initiatives to switch to nonpartisan local elections, which are less polarized.
