Great cues for the step back drill! This is one of our favorite drills to help us feel tension in our backside hip and hold that tension as we stride into the launch position. Many players lack this feeling when they load into their stride, which causes a lot of weak ground balls because their weight is coming up and out of their legs. #baseball #hitting

Sometimes I wish my kid chose something easier than baseball. Then I think about how all of the most interesting people I know all went through hard things. And then I think I’m grateful he chose baseball.

The biggest thing baseball taught me: It’s life in a uniform. Good days, bad days, and everything in between. Let go of what you can’t control. And commit to what you can. Your effort, attitude and response to failures will continue to shape who you are. So keep stacking days.

Important topic for young players and their parents: Good yesterday doesn’t mean good today. Bad yesterday doesn’t mean bad today. Be careful of those “too high” and “too low” emotions. Congrats on a great game/tournament but be careful of letting your foot off the gas pedal. Stay consistent in your work ethic, stay humble and stay hungry. Be careful of letting pride and ego trick you into thinking “this game’s easy!” You had a tough one! We all have and that won’t be the last time it happens. Stay the course, think about what you will do different next time. Work on those weaknesses (while still working on your strengths) and get your mind right for your next opportunity.
