Tourism in Pakistan has resumed, but locals are afraid of its consequences. Irresponsible tourists pose a major safety risk in a region where many people cannot easily access healthcare, hospitals are not equipped for outbreaks, and small businesses can’t afford safety equipment.

COVID-19 hit Pakistan's tourism industry hard: PATO reported spring tour losses of US$10mil, the hotel industry lost PKR100mil in February, and a 90% reduction in foreign tourists is expected for 2020.

Because of the massive increase in domestic travel, #tourism employs 3.9 million people across Pakistan.
