I read a book; "Ogadimma" by Ukamaka Olisakwe, where she ran home to her dad the first time her husband beat her. 🤕 You know what her dad did? He took her back. Having intelligent and exposed relatives is truly underrated.

Okay, I’ll indulge you properly. Everything I share below is from my own POV, and some steps I took before travelling for my master's degree. First step? You need to be really clear on your “why.” Why do you want to leave, and more importantly, what are you trying to gain? Is it better pay? Quality education? Career growth? Stability? Lifestyle? If you don’t answer that, you’ll just be moving… not progressing. Next, be intentional about your choice of country. Make sure it aligns with your long-term goals. 1. Do their immigration policies favour your field? 2. Can you realistically stay long-term? 3. Does the country offer what you’re actually looking for? Then the route. The most common (and relatively accessible) path is the study route, but even that needs proper planning. If you’re going that way, break it down: 1. What program are you going for? Be very intentional because this will determine everything else. 2. Which schools offer it? You’ll find several schools, so don’t get overwhelmed yet. 3. Which of those schools offer funding? Scholarships, assistantships, etc. Please don't go into debt in the process; that is a whole lot of pressure on you. 4. What are their requirements? This is where you now filter your options down to what is actually achievable. From there, everything becomes clearer. I will stop here..mehn that is a whole lot of "first step to take." 😂
