Genshin might be the first game ever to make a region based on Sumer. Most common theme in other video games nowadays are samurai ninja Viking etc... But to make a game about such ancient civilization that isn't recognized by many ? That's a new wind.

The next region is Genshin is Sumeru. I believe that Sumeru is based on the Sumer civilization,one of the most ancient and the first civilization in human history alongside with ancient Egypt. It's located in the historical region of southern Mesopotamia (now southern Iraq) .
