Will Arsenal be worthy champions if they get over the line? There is plenty of criticism of Arsenal's football, the set-piece arts/dark arts, the antics of Arteta in the technical area, and triumphalism of some fans such as the one with that presumptuous “champions” shirt. Throw in the usual club tribalism and that season-defining VAR decision (correct call but officials inconsistent in punishing grappling this season) and there’s plenty of antipathy towards Arsenal. But it is a truism universally acknowledged that the team that finish top first are worthy champions. It’s a marathon of 38 sprints and Arsenal have demonstrated the required ability, character and stamina. They have had their mentality questioned all season (and before). From Raya to Rice, Gabriel to Gyokeres, all of the squad have shown resilience. Battlers, not bottlers. Rice in particular embodies their will to win. It’s good to see a club keeping faith in a talented manager during the near-misses; keeping financial balance (top with fourth largest wage bill); and building a squad so that hugely capable players can come off the bench and make a big difference as Odegaard did against West Ham. And isn’t it more refreshing to see a range of champions (if they do hold on)? Five different clubs have been champions since Arsenal in 2004. It’s also important to see a club committed to their academy, creating a pathway for Saka, Lewis-Skelly, Dowman and others, and giving them a chance to shine; it’s good for sustainability, culture and connection with fans. It’s encouraging to see a club working with fans to improve atmosphere (tifos, coach greets).  Off-field, too. All clubs have vital community departments; Arsenal in the Community is widely acknowledged as the oldest and one of the most impactful at home and abroad with around 100 full-time and part-time staff. There is much good about Arsenal. If they do hold on, Arsenal will be worthy champions on and off the pitch. #AFC

West Ham set to request VAR audio following their disallowed goal against Arsenal yesterday. London Stadium club likely to contact PGMO for explanation as to why Callum Wilson’s goal was ruled out. bbc.co.uk/sport/football…

When Arsenal smashed Spurs 4-1 in February Peter Schmeichel was sat just at the front of the press box. When Gyokeres scored the fourth goal Schmeichel stormed out of his seat to head down to get ready for his post match interview with steam coming out of his ears. He was fuming and clearly so, so gutted at seeing Arsenal win so well. Any other team today, he 100% says that's clear foul and backs the keeper. Seeing him like this just makes that win feel even sweeter.

I will say…this show has flowed better than WrestleMania. It’s amazing what happens when you give the talent time to fucking wrestle, and aren’t bombarded with 7 minute commercial breaks after a night of 7 minute matches #WWEBacklash

@premierleague If arsenal win the league itll be because of decisions by var and refs to give it in favour of arsenal, as your head of PL said himself they have a strategic plan to have a new winner every so often. Even if arsenal end up winning, itll be quickly forgotten.

Two points behind, one goal behind. Manchester City are not going quietly. Nobody really expected them to. Not with a winger of such a cutting edge as Doku, again outstanding (although surely teams know what he’s going to do, his goal echoing his second against Everton). Not with a manager of Guardiola’s hunger; with a centre-forward as prolific and inventive as Haaland, a back-heel this time; with a goalkeeper of Donnarumma's calibre; with such strength in depth that they can bring on Marmoush and Foden. And with some good fortune: Brentford can legitimately debate at least one of Matheus Nunes' push on Schade. Your shove is king. But City dominated second half, deserved winners. It’s not been a Premier League season of the greatest quality compared to others. But it has proved a quality title race. Arsenal have to respond at West Ham on Sunday. #MCFC #MCIBRE
