It’s difficult to read Erasmus at the height of the Protestant Reformation and disagree with this statement. The Reformation itself is credited with the early creation of humanism (albeit not secular at the time).
Whether we like it or not the Reformation played a real and integral role toward the development of the enlightenment and subsequent humanist movements.

Are they smart because they’re Protestant? Or are they Protestant because they’re smart? Keep in mind that atheists have higher educational success and greater knowledge of the Bible (!) on average than Christians. You could extrapolate that Protestantism, undoubtedly sincere in its day, was the path towards secular humanism.

Catholic translates literally as “universal”. The Church has a vested interest in maintaining a steady flow of non-White Catholics to keep up its numbers (and therefore money and primacy) due to the net loss of whites leaving rather than converting.
As a former cradle Catholic myself, I can’t stress enough how much damage legally & culturally it does to the US.

The Catholic Church and Catholic leaders were instrumental in getting the Hart-Celler Act passed because they were tired of being called 'undesirable migrants' (cause they were). We need to go back to calling them what they really are.

@tarkinness I’d recommend Switzerland and Monaco if you ever get the chance, truly the best places to visit in Western Europe- people are amazing too, way more laid back than the states.
