Hi everyone… This is extremely hard for me to say publicly, but if it helps even one person, then it’s worth it. My name is Blaise B, and I am a compulsive gambler. My last bet was on 12/30/25 (a scratch off). Last year I lost everything, my life savings, credit cards maxed out, and every ounce of hope I had in myself. In total, I gambled a little over $10 million and lost more than $400,000. I attached a few screenshots from last April… I was in a very sick and dark place, silently losing thousands of dollars a day while pretending everything was fine but it was not. Some days I’d win $50k+ in house money but then lose every dollar of it plus thousands more from my own bank account before the night was over. People saw the “big shot,” the guy who won hundreds of thousands… but they never saw the reality: losing $40,000 driving home from work playing baccarat, losing $30,000 sitting on the toilet, losing entire paychecks the day they hit my account while lying in bed, alone with a screen and a sickness I couldn’t escape. I barely slept…chased until the sun came up…chased until I had nothing left to give. In December, everything inside me broke. I wrote a note saying I was sorry and left my parents house driving 120 mph toward a median. Somehow… I got a sign from God telling me to stop. That same night, I walked into a Gamblers Anonymous meeting. I was shaking, ashamed, and empty but it saved my life. I was with like minded individuals who also battle this sickness. This Thursday, I’ll be chairing my first GA meeting. I went from suicide to now I’m paying off debt, paying my cash advances, and slowly rebuilding myself. Not just financially, but as a human being. I’m not beating closing fair value for moneylines but crushing. I am beating closing lines for spreads and totals, yet losing. Small sample size still though.

The long run is where it's made, but not all EV plays build the same long run. Some markets are consistently positive, others are dragging the whole sheet down and you don't know until you track per-strategy. The losing days hurt less when you know which ones actually have confirmed edge behind them.

@___juggin___ @OddsJam Gotcha, no I do +EV betting so I have big winning days but also comes with some big losing days. The latter suck, just gotta be positive in the long run

@closinglinecole Casinos are so toxic, they'll let you lose tens of thousands of dollars and give you all these promos to get you back. But make even a little bit of money? they'll ban you.

Sports betting immunes you to losing money. I could lose $3,000 in a day and it doesn’t affect me because I know long term I have always been profitable using the same formula. Good thing I don’t go to the casino, it’s -EV.

@miatravls @petergotmotion Especially the retail books. It's criminal for casinos to say, hey, we'll take 5 cents for every dollar you give us! But the moment you make even a little off of them, they limit you. I stick to offshore and crypto books.

@petergotmotion i was making a solid income at 18 from sports betting on bovada, was the only sportsbook available for under 21s at the time when you're actually profitable you start getting wager limited and its not worth it anymore most of these sports bettors are larping gambling addicts

@C0llins_Billy It also matters which +EV you're betting. Not all signals are equal — market manipulators move lines to create phantom +EV that's gone by game time. If your edge doesn't hold at close, it was never real. Closing EV > opening EV. Track by strategy, not just overall.

@EVBlacksite Just started betting on Kalshi and Polymarket last week. Solid returns on 100 bets so far — Kalshi already moved up to my second best performing book.

Third-party odds APIs report Kalshi lines at the pre-fee price. At 43¢ odds, that's +132 in the feed. Your actual cost: 44.72¢ → +123. 9 points of edge that doesn't exist. 168 bets since 3/18 (6 pending bets). Two steps forward, one step back, as the saying goes. Interesting finding: getting clobbered on BetOnline. But it's not just the losses — the closing line data says I'm not capturing value there at all. -2.2% closing EV, 42% beat closing fair value rate. That's a signal to pause a book, not push through. Flip side: Bet105, Bitcoin Betting, and Overtime Markets are all shadowing Pinnacle lines — and results have been really strong despite consensus that it's the sharpest book in the industry. I do bet lines early though, worth keeping an eye on as unit size increases above early betting limits. Also fixed a bug since last post — was comparing closing odds without adjusting for the actual line I took. Numbers are cleaner now. #EVBetting #PlusEV
