This is just misleading. Jackson wasn’t ‘arguing for illegal aliens having birthright citizenship’, she was doing exactly what justices do in oral arguments: testing the government’s logic with a hypothetical. Her point wasn’t complicated. If you’re physically in a country, you’re subject to its laws, you can be arrested and prosecuted. That’s all she was getting at. So she asked the obvious follow-up: if that’s true, how can the government claim certain people here aren’t ‘subject to the jurisdiction’ of the U.S.? That’s a judge poking holes in a legal argument. What’s actually absurd, 🤡, is taking a standard courtroom hypothetical, stripping all the context, and pretending it’s some kind of unhinged position.

Most Christians in Germany did not speak out against Hitler. In fact, many supported him, helping to solidify his authoritarian power. But there were also those who refused to remain silent. Among them was Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who said: “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.” As a Christian, I cannot choose silence when truth, justice, and human dignity are at stake. To be uplifting does not mean ignoring evil; it means standing against it in both word and deed. That is why I will not be silent.
