@sebkrier 100%. I would add 'problem identifiers' and 'desire to solve problems'. Taking messy/complex issues, describing as a problem + the desire & comms skills to galvanise ppl. If you can do this, the capability available to solve the problem is magnitudes greater than 3 years ago.

Sounds about right. On how to AI proof your job, for now: giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/ac…

Unfortunately I think this is the mood affilitation that will continue to grow in various circles: socially conservative subcultures who reject change; activists who make activism their identity; degrowth-adjascent ideologies; aging populations who are unwilling to let societies progress; paternalists who strive to control other people's lives.
That's not to say the technology doesn't come with risks, downsides, and trade-offs; but it's absolutely possible to take individual issues seriously while being Progress-oriented and overall optimistic about what AI.

I am worried that people converge to general "AI hating" instead of being against particular reasons (e.g. IP, xrisk, slop, competition, power concentration etc.) AI is not going to go away - it is too useful - so general rejection will not work other than as social posing.

What are the strategic and operational impacts of artificial intelligence for those working in the #CharitySector?
Thanks to @TimCook_UK from AI Confident and Jon Yates from @berkshirecf for delivering today's hands-on workshop on leading confidently through AI-related change...

@PeoplesCricket @ComptonDandoNCC @AnnieChave @AnsonStGeorge @cricket_badger @googlyfund @savevcricket @WG_RumblePants @TheMetronomesCC Volunteers and cost are high on the list. But add into that a mixed view from players, particularly in league games where people would prefer to eat what they want, at a time of their choosing, rather than have to wait till just before they bowl to be fed a load of stodge.
English

Teas add so much to a weekend game. But they're increasingly rare, which means players miss out on a great feed and the communal part of shared eating. What are the main reasons for cricket tea's demise please #CricketTwitter?
📸 @ComptonDandoNCC's excellent teas!

@SkyCricket Broad hasn't yet lost the instinct to shout 'catch it' 🤣 love it

@classickeeper1 @KeeperCourt @WK_Union You missed "standing up to everyone because nothing gets above ankle height" "everything hits the ends of your very cold fingers" and "body in bits for next two days due doing 400 squats in a day having done none for the last 9 months" 🤣

“A wicket keepers lot”cold wet April,dry enough to play.Lose toss 80+cold overs beckon.Team mates wear many layers,I can’t I still need to move!Quicks spraying it,I dive for a pad deflection,now look more like a goalkeeper!And I still miss it😊@KeeperCourt @WK_Union

@_thewkcoach Superb glovework, and nice to see the stumps flattened in proper first-stumpung-of-the-season excitement too 🤣
English

This is a serious stumping! Proper off the training ground stuff - batter being really annoying and getting the ball to go between their legs. Great stuff from McManus!

Who at your club would get stumped like this?

This is... really quite good. It's been so long since I saw effective government communication that I'd almost forgotten what it looks like.

@Gilesyb Superb piece, Giles. In particular the point about the need for adoption in the 'non-frontier', 'everyday' organisations. Important to include non-profit/education in those too, they have the added challenge of managing the societal impact of AI on the communities they serve.
English

Two prominent Labour think tanks have written about the AI revolution and how to respond. I think only one of them has got the right attitude. My blog:

@Gilesyb Fair cop! But if I can, then the barrier to entry is v low. If it helps frame your output from the survey, I've been playing with a way to describe the different 'levels' of using AI tools in organisations. Feel free to critique or challenge with edge cases that might not fit!

English

@TimCook_UK but your business is literally about AI, right? Looks impressive
English

@ScarlettSport At @Sidcupcc we have rapidly growing women's team, indoor nets and also playing in indoor pre season competitions...
English

@CatrionaRoss1 @zsk @ChathamHouse Very much so!! Also reminds me of being told by someone very senior that there was no point doing anything other than investing in AI/maths PhDs 🤔
English

Listening to Microsoft boss Satya Nadella talking AI @ChathamHouse: you don’t need to be an expert in the tech, you need to be an expert in using the tech in your field
Not everybody needs a PhD in AI, he says
He describes it as “just a tool you would use… like spreadsheets”

@TheAthletic Chatting to my son on the way back from his training on Sat I said "you dropped back into a sweeper role a few times there". He looked completely confused. The concept of a sweeper has disappeared from the game entirely! When did this happen? Who was the last team to have one??
English

@KatAlf @geraldpower Their motorways are very empty though!! Very much enjoyed our drive down to the Loire! But I do concur with your observation... except for graffiti which is seemingly the other way round 🤷♂️
