My experience with Myth.
First off, I know some of what I'm about to say may receive some backlash & I am fully prepared for it. I am simply sharing my perspective of my time in Myth, I try to be as objective & unbiased as possible.
I met with Doom on June 13th about potentially joining Myth as Management. To assist in the brand direction, partnership activations, etc. We have a solid conversation and discussed quite a bit about the future of Myth.
Fast forward a couple days and things were made official and I officially joined Myth. At first I just felt lost, wasn't sure what I needed to work on or do. Projects were in the works but no timelines were set for projects. Overall just felt very disorganized, but I was determined to work through the mess and try to make sense of it all.
Now one of the things that was brought up at one point in time was team funding which I was open to helping out with. I even pitched the concept of creating a team PayPal where funds could be contributed.
On June 21st I receive a DM from Doom asking for me to spot him $100 for his mother's birthday. He went on to include details about his current family situation and overall struggle. I did end up sending him $50 so he could celebrate his birthday with his mother, I kinda felt guilt tripped into it. I mean, what do you say to someone when in that situation. I gave what I had made off of an editing commission and kinda left it at that.
In the message he said he was asking "Brotha to brotha" "Man to man". But given the fact I had not even officially known him for 2 weeks when he asked for that just gave me a strange vibe. After I sent the money there was never a follow up. Never a hint as to when I would be paid back or anything.
Prior to this he had DM'd me about how he had passed out and went to the hospital because he wasn't eating enough. I believe the reason he asked for money for his mothers birthday was because I showed concern about him not eating enough and offered to buy him a meal if he needed it.
What I didn't realize at the time was the funding for the team was going to be a consistent thing. Doom wanted to get the Golden Checkmark prior to the July 1st announcement and last minute started asking people to throw in money for it, at one point it was even considered putting a message in main chat asking if member wanted to pitch in for it.
When we needed the domain mythgaming. co (which was only $20) he started asking people to chip in for that. Overall it was clear that Doom didn't have any funds to own a team. Now I understand that it's not up to just one person to fund a team, but when you have a team of 5+ owners it shouldn't be all up to just management to pay for things especially since we didn't have any equity in the deal.
Finally, on June 27th I received a text message from Doom regarding a tweet that Vision had made saying "Fuck Myth". For context as to why Vision made this post, Vision was previously in Myth (prior to me joining) and after leaving Myth after being in for a short time he was very respectful about leaving and attempted to keep the peace. Doom would however go on to shit talk him in chat which when Vision found out he grew angry at Doom/Myth due to the fact he left so respectfully.
In the text Doom sent me he told me to pull out my $300 in the community design contest that Vision & I were hosting, and went on to say "maybe we're not seeing eye to eye". Regardless of personal feeling being hurt, I found it incredibly disrespectful that I was being instructed to essentially scam Vision and pull out of the design contest. Which mind you was a COMMUNITY CONTEST, something he preaches so much about.
To sum it all up, things were very unorganized. A lot of ideas/concepts but no direction, Doom didn't have funds to help fund his own team, & was instructed to pull out of a community contest.
I have no hard feelings towards anyone in Myth and as I said at the start I understand some people are going to take this the wrong way or be upset by it. I simply wanted to be very clean about my experiences with Doom while I was in the Myth brand. This is my outro, I won't be speaking on this any further as I am only focused on the future of myself and the brand I am currently developing.
