Since I currently have my hands full with the important work of delivering 𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘈𝘧𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘴 @ 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦 through digital transformation, it is heart-warming to see that ASA supports the legacy I left in my previous role as DA Shadow Minister for Public Service and Administration.
ASA’s admiration for the DA’s work runs so deep that they have now copied-and-pasted my 2023 Cut Cabinet Perks Bill, and re-introduced it as their own. However, I may be prepared to forego the R12.5 million that ASA ordinarily pays for others to do their writing for them, on the strict condition that they may not change even a single word of the legislation I wrote.
It is encouraging to see the maturity of ASA in so openly acknowledging the superiority of the DA’s policy platform over their own. Come voting day, I’ll certainly be counting on ASA to help us turn this well-written DA Bill into law! 🇿🇦

@StellMun What are you doing about the trees infested with PSHB ? Where are you taking infested wood ?
English

@Recon1_ZA @POTUS This is a nosense story. Another fearmongering nonsense.
English

Dear @POTUS
AN OPEN LETTER TO THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT
I'd like to refer you to the case of Akkerland where the South African government seized its first white-owned farm (a vast hunting reserve), from Johan Steenkamp and Arnold Cloete, co-owners of the Akkerland Boerdery hunting farm in the Limpopo province.
They were ordered to hand over their land after talks to buy it at a 10th of the price broke down.
Cyril Ramaphosa, told a farmers' conference shortly after that "land reform" was necessary to "correct a past wrong".
Steenkamp and Cloete asked for 200 million rands ($20.8m) for their reserve but were only offered 20m rands ($2.08m).
A letter sent to the company earlier in that year said:
"Notice is hereby given that a terrain inspection will be held on the farms on April 5, 2018, at 10am to conduct an audit of the assets and a handover of the farm's keys to the state."
The farm took out an urgent injunction to prevent eviction but the Department of Rural Development and Land Affairs refused his application.
Steenkamp said that the decision was made on "very short notice" during a public holiday.
He said he was given notice to hand the keys over to his farm within seven days.
IMPORTANT:
What makes the Akkerland case unique is that they were not allowed to first dispute the claim in court, as the law requires.
Do not let them tell you farms are not being seized.
Investigate the Akkerland case.
There were allegations the mining corporation Coal of Africa may be behind the expropriation action, and that this has nothing to do with historical land reform, and everything to do with mining.

@ginnydmm The storm damage is insignificant in the bigger picture. The PSHB (polyphagous shothole borer) is wreaking much more havoc and will do so for many, many years to come. Planting trees is a must but these must not be reproductive host trees.
English

@dailymaverick in this article it is quoted that the PSHB issue "slipped through the cracks of which dept is responsible" the fact is that government didn't take action in the beginning & had meeting after meeting discussing the same thing without action

Just look at how @CityPowerJhb operate. They have sent contractors to cut down all these trees that are either side of the powerlines. Anything within 11 metres. @JoburgParksZoo what is your take on this. You planted the trees and now they are being cut down. @GJMo

English

@JoburgParksZoo It has been reported previously to you but no action. Hence now the X post.

English

@JoburgParksZoo massive very dangerous dead Pin oak tree outside 75 St David Road Houghton. This is one of many hazardous trees in the city. Someone is going to die of you leave these dead trees standing.

English

@JoburgParksZoo are being incredibly neglectful by not dealing with the many dead street trees. Not only are the public endangered in the public space but people in their own homes too. This is neglect and a total failure of their responsibility to remove hazardous trees.

@MTNza our fibre service goes off when we have load shedding. This is a big inconvenience for our office and for all other MTN customers in our area. Please send technicians out to solve this problem. Parkmore, Sandton.
English

@MTNza Thanks, we need time frames here. When will this problem be resolved? Many in the suburb are looking at alternative suppliers. This after MTN invested approximately R20 million installing your infrastructure thought the suburb.

@TreeWorks_JHB Hi there,
We are sorry to hear. We're working around the clock to protect your connectivity, with an aggressive rollout of batteries and generators. Consistent outages have a direct impact on the performance of the batteries as there isn’t sufficient time for charging.
