I'm been officially awarded an @NSF grant to do research using @WHAM_CTIO telescope. This is a collaborative grant with @LMHaffner at @EmbryRiddle as the lead. The @TCU portion of the grant will help provide resources for undergrad & graduate student research.

For the first time, scientists have found evidence to suggest that the center of the Milky Way Galaxy may share characteristics with some distant galaxies classified as LINERS, which emit more radiation than an ordinary galaxy but less than an active one. fcld.ly/azrz2nm

Our research is featured in @HubbleTelescope News today! We found signatures in the Magellanic Stream that it was ionized by a Seyfert Flare that erupted from the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy. This research was lead by Andrew Fox & Elaine Frazer at @stsci

Today's discovery is *emission* from the bubble, seen by the WHAM telescope! By measuring the optical emission and combining it with the UV absorption data, they have derived the density and pressure of the gas, which appears to be very high. #AAS236

Excited to say I’ve accepted a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Physics at @ubcokanagan in Kelowna, BC (don't have to move!). I get to keep trying to understand gas in our Galaxy while also teaching, working with students, and helping develop an astro program.
