Japanese indie game developer Mai Itsuki creates adult-themed games under her doujin circle called Ren reported a serious problem with her bank. Resona Bank has suddenly stopped processing her international payments from game sales overseas. This includes revenue from a publisher in Taiwan. The bank gave no clear reason, only mentioning unspecified “risks.” Itsuki has always operated legally, paid all her taxes, and followed Japan’s strict rules for this type of content. She is also currently undergoing cancer treatment, which adds to the stress of the situation. The block began in March 2026 and has left her without access to important funds. She now plans to change banks to keep her work going.
