x.com/GOPoversight/s… Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has resigned following mounting pressure for her to do so and a congressional hearing held on Monday. It comes after the USSS failed to properly protect Donald Trump from an assassination attempt on July 13.  According to two sources who spoke to ABC News, the director has resigned. During the hearing, Cheatle avoided and dodged questions related to the assassination attempt and the various security failures that took place at the Butler, Pennsylvania rally.  In a letter to USSS for her resignation Cheatle wrote, "As I stated in the hearing yesterday, all of you are worthy of trust and confidence. You deserve the nation's support in carrying out our critical mission. One of my favorite things about this workforce is that the men and women are fiercely committed to our mission.” The hearing led to a bipartisan call from both Republicans and Democrats to have her step aside from her post at the USSS. In a letter signed by both Rep. James Comer (R-KY) and Jamie Raskin (D-MD), it read: "Today, you failed to provide answers to basic questions regarding that stunning operational failure and to reassure the American people that the Secret Service has learned its lessons and begun to correct its systemic blunders and failures." "In the middle of a presidential election, the Committee and the American people demand serious institutional accountability and transparency that you are not providing. We call on you to resign as Director as a first step to allowing new leadership to swiftly address this crisis and rebuild the trust of a truly concerned Congress and the American people," the letter added.  Following the hearing, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) announced a task force to investigate the assassination attempt on Trump. During the hearing, Cheatle had maintained that she was the best person to be head of the USSS at this time.  When asked by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) if Cheatle would like to draft a resignation letter during the five minutes Mace had for questioning, Cheatle declined at the time.  Trump made a statement on Truth Social about the assassination attempt after Cheatle's resignation, saying, "The Biden/Harris Administration did not properly protect me, and I was forced to take a bullet for Democracy. IT WAS MY GREAT HONOR TO DO SO!" House GOP Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) said in a statement, “The resignation of USSS Director Cheatle is long overdue. The failure to answer basic questions over the last ten days and at yesterday’s Congressional hearing was a disgrace. House Republicans will not rest until we have 100% transparency and accountability.” Human Events Senior Editor Jack Posobiec said of the resignation, "Her resignation is part of the cover-up They want you to stop asking questions about J13." Chairman Comer of the House Oversight Committee made a statement in response to the resignation as well, stating, "The Oversight Committee’s hearing resulted in Secret Service Director Cheatle’s resignation and there will be more accountability to come." A statement from President Joe Biden said, "As a leader, it takes honor, courage, and incredible integrity to take full responsibility for an organization tasked with one of the most challenging jobs in public service." "The independent review to get to the bottom of what happened on July 13 continues, and I look forward to assessing its conclusions. We all know what happened that day can never happen again. As we move forward, I wish Kim all the best, and I will plan to appoint a new Director soon," the White House statement added.  During her opening statement at the hearing, Cheatle acknowledged that the assassination attempt was the "most significant operational failure at the Secret Service in decades." thepostmillennial.com/breaking-secre…

Oversight Committee@GOPoversight

🚨 BREAKING- Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle Has RESIGNED Chairman Comer Statement on Secret Service Director Cheatle’s Resignation: “The Oversight Committee’s hearing resulted in Director Cheatle’s resignation and there will be more accountability to come. The Secret Service has a no-fail mission yet it failed historically on Director Cheatle’s watch. At yesterday’s Oversight Committee hearing, Director Cheatle instilled no confidence that she has the ability to ensure the Secret Service can meet its protective mission. Egregious security failures leading up to and at the Butler, Pennsylvania campaign rally resulted in the assassination attempt of President Trump, the murder of an innocent victim, and harm to others in the crowd. While Director Cheatle’s resignation is a step toward accountability, we need a full review of how these security failures happened so that we can prevent them going forward. We will continue our oversight of the Secret Service in support of the House Task Force to deliver transparency, accountability, and solutions to ensure this never happens again.”

Nina Jankowicz's defamation lawsuit against Fox News has been dismissed by a federal judge. Jankowicz briefly headed the widely criticized and short-lived Disinformation Governance Board but resigned from her post and the board was paused less than a month after its formation in 2022.   After suing the outlet for defamation, a Delaware judge on Monday dismissed the case, according to The Hill. She had claimed that the outlet falsely said she “intended to censor Americans’ speech” and that she “wanted to give verified Twitter users, including herself, the power to edit others’ tweets." She also alleged in the complaint that she had resigned "as a result of Fox's false statements and ensuing harassment." The board had "paused" the same day that Jankowicz resigned from her position.   In the opinion, highlighted by Reason, Chief Judge Colm Connolly dismissed the three arguments Jankowicz said were false statements made against Fox: that she was trying to censor the speech of Americans, that she was fired from the Biden administration, and that she wanted verified then-Twitter users to be able to edit others' posts.  Connolly dismissed the complaint from Jankowicz against Fox News, who argued that her complaint was centered around 37 statements that "are not even about" her, but instead speaking broadly about the board and the administration. 36 of those statements were found to not have been about Jankowicz. The remaining statement related to one instance in which Sean Hannity had said "that "the Board was a 'department … dedicated to working with the special media giants for the purpose of policing information,'" and there was an image of Jankowicz on the screen. She argued that this could lead Americans to believe the host was talking about her. Connolly wrote that "the statement is not defamatory because it is not false."  He added in the ruling that "the Board was formed precisely to police information and to work with nongovernmental actors." In the case of being "fired," Fox's characterization of hosts' statements such as "Jankowicz was so absurd that she had to go away," that she "was fired from DHS," and that she "got booted" was that these were opinion statements and "inherently imprecise." Connolly wrote in the opinion, "Jankowicz does not dispute this contention in her briefing. Accordingly, I will dismiss her defamation claim insofar as it is based on these three alleged statements."  For the allegations saying Fox defamed her by saying she wanted to have verified users edit then-Twitter posts, Connolly wrote, "the Complaint itself quotes Jankowicz confirming in a Zoom session that she endorsed the notion of having 'verified' individuals edit the content of others' tweets. Specifically, the Complaint alleges that Jankowicz stated 'during a Zoom meeting' that she 'like[d] the idea' of 'verified people' 'edit[ing]' Twitter and that she 'like[d] the idea of adding more context to claims and tweets and other content online, rather than removing it.'"  In a statement, Fox said of the case, “This was a politically motivated lawsuit aimed at silencing free speech, and we are pleased with the court’s decision to protect the First Amendment."  After she had been assigned as the head of the board, public outcry led her to leave the role in the Disinformation Board. She then went viral for singing a parody of "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" on disinformation. She had also sought out funds in order to sue Fox. Many conservatives took to social media to protest the board, calling it Orwellian when it was formed.   thepostmillennial.com/federal-court-…

Kamala Harris has very nearly sealed up the Democrat Party's nomination for president, only hours after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race. As she makes inroads with delegates, and Dems work to coalesce around their brand new, unvetted, unpopular candidate, there have been concerns raised about whether she, without Biden, will be able to access the Biden campaign war chest that he's amassed over the past few months. NPR suggests that "Harris can probably spend the money and pay fines later if there's a problem," meaning that if Harris and her campaign are in violation of federal election laws by spending the money, they can just be held accountable at a later time, and likely would only face fines as opposed to prosecution. In tony fundraisers in New York and LA, helmed by Biden, George Clooney, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama, the Biden campaign has worked hard to amass the $240 million they say they currently have on hand. But Republicans have said that it may not be permissible under Federal Election Commission rules for Harris to use funds that were raised to elect Biden. FEC Chair Sean Cooksey spoke about the concerns of giving Harris access to Biden's campaign funds. Those who gave the money to the Biden campaign did so believing it would go to elect Joe Biden, and now those funds are being transferred to a different candidate, without knowing for sure if the donors would have given their money if Harris was leading the ticket. "I think it's really complicated, is the short answer," Cooksey said. "I mean, we take a step back to consider the situation—this is really unprecedented in terms of modern political history, and certainly in terms of campaign finance law. We have a presidential nominee or a presumptive nominee dropping out just weeks before his party convention." "What [Biden's] attempting to do is to give his entire committee, the cash and all the assets, over to another person," Cooksey said. He went on to say "I think it's gonna have to go through a process, through the FEC. I expect, there's probably going to be challenges to that at the agency, probably in the courts as well." He said that there's a disagreement among "law experts" as to whether or not Harris can claim the money for her own campaign. "And so I think everyone would agree, though, that this is completely unprecedented, and it raises a lot of novel questions," Cooksey said. The campaign dropped Biden's name from their FEC paperwork on Sunday after Biden, 81, posted a letter on X stating that he had decided to quit the campaign. The campaign is now called Harris for President and the Harris Victory Fund, along with the Harris Action Fund, are the official fundraising committees. Neither of those committees raised the $240 million in campaign cash currently on hand. Cooksey's predecessor, former FEC Chair Democrat Dara Lindenbaum, said "It’s quite clear, Vice President Harris can continue using the campaign committee and its funds." "There’s a process in which private parties can file complaints with the Federal Election Commission, Cooksey said. "There’s also a process in which they prospectively ask for advisory opinions. One of the problems with those processes is they can take a lot of time, and we don’t have a lot of time until the election, I think we’re at 106 days out. And so I think there’s going to be a lot of challenges in the courts as well." thepostmillennial.com/npr-suggests-k…

x.com/houmayor/statu… It has been revealed that Joe Biden cancelled nine trips to various destinations across the United States over the next two weeks following his decision to drop out of the presidential race. A source familiar with the matter told the New York Post that the president was set to start travelling on Monday, but opted instead to extend his stay at home until Wednesday.  Biden has been holed up in his Rehoboth, Delaware residence since being diagnosed with COVID-19 last week, however presidential physician Dr. Kevin O'Connor recently noted that Biden's symptoms have "almost resolved completely," and that all his vitals are "absolutely normal." The source said they were not provided with a reason for the decision to scrap the plans.  "They started cancelling stuff when he announced he wasn't seeking re-election," the source told the Post on Monday. "He was supposed to leave today to start the west coast trip, but they extended his stay in Rehoboth until the 24th." The president was set to attend events, both official and campaign, in California, Colorado, and Texas. He was also expected to attend a meeting with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday.  On Monday, Houston mayor John Whitmire revealed that a meeting with Biden to go over the response to Hurricane Beryl had been cancelled last minute. He nonetheless expressed his gratitude towards the administration, and wished the president a quick recovery.  Since announcing the end of his campaign, Biden has only made one public appearance, calling in to Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign event on Monday. During his brief address, he vowed to be by her side as she seeks to become the Democratic nominee.  Biden explained that COVID-19 would be "keeping me out of people's hair for the next three or four days," but that he was "not going anywhere," and would be "out on the campaign with [Harris] working like hell."  thepostmillennial.com/biden-cancels-…

Given recent events, @HoustonTX understands but is disappointed @POTUS will not visit this week to assess Hurricane Beryl recovery. We are deeply grateful for the timely call from Mr. Biden after the storm, and his support is proving invaluable in addressing our long-term needs.

x.com/POTUS/status/1… On Tuesday, Joe Biden announced his first in-person public appearance since dropping out of the 2024 presidential race. The commander in chief will address the nation at 8pm EST on Wednesday. Since being diagnosed with Covid last week, Biden has been holed up at his home in Rehoboth, Delaware. Despite the fact that presidential physician Dr. Kevin O'Connor recently noted that Biden's symptoms have "almost resolved completely," and that all his vitals are "absolutely normal," his only appearance has been a call-in to Kamala Harris' campaign event on Monday.  “Tomorrow evening at 8 PM ET, I will address the nation from the Oval Office," Biden wrote in a post on X, explaining that he will discuss "what lies ahead, and how [he] will finish the job for the American people." x.com/TPostMillennia… During the aforementioned call-in, Biden said that COVID-19 would keep him "out of people's hair for the next three or four days," but that he was "not going anywhere," and would be "out on the campaign with [Harris] working like hell."  "I won't be on the ticket, but I'm still gonna be fully, fully engaged," Biden added. "I've still got six months left in my presidency, and I'm determined to get as much done as I possibly can, both foreign policy and domestic policy." thepostmillennial.com/biden-to-addre…

I’m on the roof of the building in Butler, PA where shots were fired in an attempt to assassinate President Trump. As a former Navy SEAL sniper, it was clear to me that many security measures were dropped making Pres. Trump extremely vulnerable. Many questions still remain.

Hot damn. MTG just destroyed Kim Cheatle and asked the question that is on all of our minds. Was there a stand-down order? Was there a conspiracy to kill President Trump? "Let's talk about things that are prohibited in Trump rallies and I've been to a lot of Trump rallies, backpacks, and bags…Bicycles…firearms…any type of weapon or any other item determined to be a potential safety hazard, like a range a range finder would be one at five ten Crooks is first observed by one of the snipers AGR sniper one at the building Five ten. Five ten president shot President Trump was shot in the face at six eleven PM…Five twenty eight AGR sniper one takes a picture of a bicycle in two bags. Those belong to crooks. Five thirty two HDR Sniper one spots crooks looking at his phone and using a range finder…Five fifty five Butler ESU command confirms receipt of photos and states they have been relayed on. Six zero five PM AGR sniper one later communicates that crooks has seen moving northeast in direction of sheets and that crooks has a backpack…Two minutes before the shooting…while President Trump has been allowed to take the stage, People see Crookes laying on his stomach in a sniper position on the roof and they're yelling he has a gun and they are trying to alert law enforcement and secret service. Why…was crooks…not shot by a snoop by the snipers. Why was he allowed to be there? As soon as the individual was identified as a threat. What do you consider to be a threat? A man with a gun laying in a sniper position a man that had a backpack, a man that had a bicycle, a man that had a range finder. At what point is he determined a threat…An individual with a backpack is not a threat. An individual with a range finder is not a threat. What about a man laying on a building that has direct line of sight of President Trump with a gun that people are screaming and pointing out Is that a threat, miss Cheatle? Once that a individual was identified? They were neutralized. No they were neutralized. Crooks was neutralized after he shot President Trump in the faith, miss Cheatle. Is he only a threat once he fires the weapon…As soon as the counter sniper identified that individual, they were able to neutralize them How were people in the crowd Okay Then let's just take it this way People under your command did not consider him to be a threat yet people in the crowd knew he had a gun and considered him to be a threat. That means that you are a complete…failure as the director of the Secret Service that people under your command don't perceive a man laying on a roof with direct line to the president with a gun they don't perceive that to be a threat yet the people in the crowd do How is that possible? I'm not certain at this time how the information from the people in the crowd was relayed to any law enforcement personnel. Now you knew that everyone knew. The people there knew that there was a danger they knew there was a threat to president Trump and it was allowed to happen. Was there a stand down order, Miss Cheatle? Was there a conspiracy to kill President Trump...Then how did this happen? And why are you still sitting here not turning in your letter of resignation? Last question please answer and then I'll recognize mister Preston Please answer that question. That is what we are investigating to determine. We're we're waiting for your letter. We are waiting for your letter of resignation. And you really need to consider doing that before you leave today?"
