Harrison Ford was working as a professional carpenter in Hollywood during the 1970s. He was largely self-taught and did carpentry work for various film industry clients, including George Lucas. While building cabinets and doing renovation work for Lucas, he was asked to read lines with actors auditioning for Star Wars. Lucas liked his performance so much that Ford was eventually cast as Han Solo, even though he was originally just there as a carpenter, not an actor being considered for the role.
