@syluskindred The main reason I play LADS is for the battles. Caleb was my main for that (Sylus in the main story). But even though I only cared about battles, this inc3st trope has completely ruined my motivation to keep playing

as someone who does the same thing but reverse, this isn't about how you cope. it's about how you push into people's throats and treat your own hcs like they're canon. most of you never put trigger warnings or any indicator except the "dead dove" symbols somewhere

Soooo you rather seeing women getting abused irl instead of them coping with fictional characters?

Hi! As a victim of incest, shaming women for what they like in the bedroom with full consent is not the feminist W you think it is. All you’re doing is shaming women and making them feel ashamed when it comes to sex and fetish.

@ThePsychoNyxZ En serio?

"lads is a proship game. saying none of them is problematic is just cope LOL" -> do you know what proship means or are you just dumb lol. I don’t take that label as people lie and are hypocrites but it’s means to be “ship and let ship” - how tf does that make sense for a “game” to be “ship and let ship”? PEOPLE can have that perception but a GAME cannot. And if you mean the new interpretation of “problematic ship” girl…no? If more of you learned to suspend your disbelief and take the game for what it is, not only self-inserting with what works for you but actually treating it like a visual NOVEL to analyse the characters and their plot progression, you wouldn’t be caught up in people’s projections and “picking and choosing” narratives. Some characters are more morally grey than others, some have more complex concepts to grasp and that is FINE. it’s variety! It’s showing the world has different stakes and different stories to explore, some won’t work for you and some will. Anyway here’s a thing I wrote on suspending disbelief before (primarily for Zayne but context applies to all) maybe it will help in your engagement with things more critically. Also you’re blocked I’m not going back and forth on a dumb take. thepsychonyx.straw.page

I think this fandom needs a reminder on why suspension of disbelief is important when going through fiction, especially for ZayneMC. What is the intention of the media and how does the media portray a certain thing? Because there are things in fiction that are written to let you explore a specific fantasy. This applies to all LI and fiction. LADS is an Otome game where you get the fantasy of dating 5 LI’s who explore different tropes and concepts. They’re all rich and people could have conversations about power imbalance financially but that is not something the game says or indicates is used to dictate or power over MC. A “rich” boyfriend/husband is one or the oldest things seen as desirable with the links to success and security we attach to wealth, thus it’s made clear none of the LI are wanting in that respect to allow you to fulfil the fantasy. That said, you never see the idea of their wealth brought up in terms of a power imbalance in terms of what happens in the game or MC purely dating them for monetary gain. As much as medical malpractice absolutely does apply in real life to a patient-doctor relationship and a lot of Zayne mains who actually work in medicine have reinforced their relationship isn’t realistic and should NOT be seen as something to emulate IRL, the game itself has never positioned ZayneMC’s dynamic with him as a doctor as an abuse of power because you get the safe *fantasy* of dating your doctor in the fictional setting where the fiction itself does not posit any issues with the dynamic. Everyone at the hospital knows and are supportive of it, Zayne’s parents are supportive, Dr Noah - MC’s prior doctor and Zayne’s mentor is supportive, Josephine - MC’s guardian - subtly is also supportive through her limited screen time. If you say “oh it’s because he’s a higher up no one wants to go against him” - but this is something you would be making excuses for and injecting that isn’t actually in the fiction or how the otome game is exploring letting you live the FANTASY of dating your doctor. In real life, if you knew your patient beforehand it would be an issue, but this a piece of romantic fiction where you need to suspend your disbelief, especially as the sci-fi fantasy settings are used to modify how the narratives look BEYOND real life. They have ZayneMC as childhood sweethearts who separated to make it clear that their feelings pre-date their reunion and they did not first meet within the doctor-patient dynamic, BUT knew eachother before so the power imbalance was not a contributing factor to their feelings. Zayne is specialised in terms of his field of cardiology and research to look after MC, this feeds directly into him talking about how he wanted to heal her heart out of guilt because of the childhood incident and he just wants to do right by her. They are literally making sure you know this fictional fantasy is an extremely exceptional circumstance. If you’ve read ZayneMC’s early content you’ll notice they start off as friends and MC often is the one pushing for their relationship to be more and every next step in the relationship is at *her* pace. If you also remember the first Bond “Frozen Promise” which takes place 6 months prior to the main story starting you see Zayne is extremely awkward and the two struggle to communicate but begin to rekindle their friendship. Please give our adult main character the autonomy she deserves when talking about her choices, she isn’t a meek fool in her romances but leads all the dynamics into romance. Zayne in DAR tries to RESIGN from the hospital out of fear the childhood incident would repeat because he cares about MC’s safety first and foremost. The game’s writing makes it clear he values HER over any feelings of his own. The whole point of fiction and otome dynamics like this is to let you safely explore the “what if” of getting to live that fantasy. Same thing with your colleague, the man you were adopted with, the guy from an “enemy” faction etc.

The perspective and narrative voice may be first person (and second person at times) but it doesn’t mean in our consumption we have to engage with it in a self insert way. There’s tonnes of first person books, that doesn’t mean I self insert as those characters either - either way people choose how much they engage with a media and putting yourself in the protagonist spot can be helpful for entertainment or to feel some things more deeply, but it’s still pre-written and they have their own base character that we are witnessing

@_M4rt__ I always saw incest as someone who loves the idea of sharing the same blood with sm1 the psychology behind it is weird but i don't think C loved being related to her he just wanted to be everything to her that's why it was bearable. Again i don't LOVE it but it was manageable

Always knew they wanted the "baby sister" thing because of their own kinks rather than it being crucial for Caleb's story or whatever stupid excuse they used to justify it and unfortunately inflop gave into it for some fucking reason. His story wasn't abt incest ever.
