Michael: they chose annihilation David: they evaporated and became people that look like them but aren't them. This is why, to me, the ending isn't a happy one for Aziracrow. It's happy for Asanthony, and I'm happy for them and like them as a separate entity to Aziracrow.

Saw a Chinese GO fan write-up of fanexpo Q&A with David. They compiled questions from both themselves and a friend. Some thoughtful answers here so English translation below. - Q: Did Crowley get everything he wanted in the end? DT: "No. No. He was evaporated. And then someone who looked a bit like him met someone who looked a bit like Aziraphale, but it's not the same thing." Q: So they really don't have their memories anymore at the end? DT: "I don't think they do. I think it's a little moment of celestial serendipity." Q: In the first two seasons, Crowley often wanted to run away somewhere else with Aziraphale. But in the end, he chose humanity's free will instead of his own happiness. What caused that change? DT: "I think by the end, he's the most selfless person of all. That's the problem, really. He's actually a very bad demon. He has far too much empathy and far too much humanity in him." Q: So when he talked about running away to Alpha Centauri in the first two seasons, do you think he was just putting on an act? DT: "I think he genuinely felt that way at the time. He rejected Heaven, and he rejected Hell. So he started searching for a third path — a path that explores the complexity of what it really means to be human. And he wants to protect that, so that everyone can keep it. At least, that's how I understand it."

I will say though… this whole experience of seeing something. And explaining the observation. And being told that I’m not seeing it right and that I’m dumb… and then the actor coming out and saying my interpretation actually aligns with his. average neurodivergent experience.

crowley did not get everything he ever wanted, right from the mouth of david tennant, let that sink in

"Heart broken. World broken. What’s the point of everything?" even though he was an optimist his hopefulness, the solace for his loneliness, his angel, was lost...the fact that crowley lost aziraphale means he's lost his hope.

"Their story mattered more than being soulmates in all the other universes" That's exactly it. Their love &their connection was way beyond any "They will meet in every universe, in every timeline" romance trope. Their story was the eternal flame. It deserved more than mortality.

also! good omens was a comedy! a lighthearted silly show. ‘i love hamlet and les mis’ yeah you go into those knowing what to expect and getting exactly what you went in for. that is not what happened with good omens, are we being purposefully dense

idk how people can romanticise soulmates in every universe at the expense of the original couple perishing without any payoff. yes WE can experience their transcendent love and people find that cute but THEY can’t. OUR aziracrow can never experience the love and togetherness those other versions have. their story is over. that was it. how is that anything but tragic
