@lakens my sense is that MC problem is even worse there, because people like to throw in a lot of factors and interactions, and, if variables are not fully independent, any randomly obtained interaction can massively change what other effects you find.

@lakens looking forward to reading it, thank you! I can't access it here, but do they say something about MC correction in mixed linear models? I know how to do this in traditional ANOVA (e.g., the Cramer 2016 paper), but would like to something for MLM, too.
