About three weeks ago I started working on a "hosted openclaw" virtual appliance that would sit atop an easyVPS. It was supposed to be just a simple wrapper that took away the pain of getting an openclaw up and running (prior to that I had wasted a good two weeks getting nowhere - these are now one-click deployments) The space shifted so fast, major architecture changes were required more than once: we started recommending Claude OAUTH as more economical than API keys, but that is now over. We added OpenAI Codex support since they allow subscription sharing across devices (of course, you can add API keys from either). But the logical move is to add local LLM to do as much of the onboard processing as possible - so today, while Anthropic was pulling the plug on this, I was adding TinyLlama to the base install on easyNode with an easy interface to sideload others. We started calling these things "easyClaw" but they've already moved beyond that, even before launch, so easyNode it is - it's more than a login screen slapped over openclaw - it's a control plane for your personal armada of agents. (I have a whole fleet of these things going and it is wild.) easyNode should go live this week, if you want to snag a spot, get on the invite list here: invite.easyclaw.md (yes, still the old name)

Starting tomorrow at 12pm PT, Claude subscriptions will no longer cover usage on third-party tools like OpenClaw. You can still use these tools with your Claude login via extra usage bundles (now available at a discount), or with a Claude API key.

The latest from @axisofeasy just hit the wire. This week - Bill-22 should concern you, because the authorities seem more and more willing to make life difficult for people who won't make life difficult for them, while leaving real criminals to ruin the country.

This is literally just one of countless unethical ways money is made online. This video shows a poker bot farm. Multiple bots sit at the same table and share their cards in real time. Because they know each other’s cards, they never bluff or trap each other. They only bet aggressively when the human is statistically behind, and fold otherwise. A single bot farm like this can make more than the house!!

The basic TL;DR if you're a Canadian small business owner or entrepreneur: For every dollar you want your business activities to generate for you in your personal life, for travel, cars, clothes, cottages, etc you have to plan and execute about $2.50 - $3.00 in net income from your businesses. Let's say your business generates about 10% net income, and you want to take $1M "off the table", to buy yourself a lakehouse for your kids and their kids... That means your business had to generate $10M top line revenue, then after you pay your payroll, COGs, rent, utilities, employee benefits - everything you need to run that business in order to generate $1M in net income. Oh, but the business has to pay corporate income tax: 40% (yes, it's 22% if your net income is < $250K, but then it'll take you 4X longer to hit your goal). Anyway, so you're now down to $600K. Do you put that in your pocket? The commenters below point out the tax rate is progressive, so it won't be $300K - plus you could dividend it (because you're already paid corporate income tax on it) - then you only will pay about 35% personal income tax on it, so knock about $200K off that $600K Now you've got $400K, the lakehouse costs $1M, you're a bit short, so you have to park that cash (or try investing it - and pay capital gains on that next year). In the meantime, you keep running the business for the next 2 years, and hope that you can at least replicate your performance from the vagaries of competition, technological disruption and ever-increasing government regulations. Finally, after three years - you have your $1M (plus extra, closing costs, land transfer taxes, etc) All you had to do was generate somewhere north of $30 million in top-line economic activity through your small business over three years so that you could shave off a million for your retirement home. That assumes you were just taking all the net income out to put aside from your planned purchase. In reality, you will be reinvesting most of it and it'll take you a lot longer than three years, and you would have had to generate a lot more than $30M top line revenue (your small share of the GDP) Thanks for listening, now here's here's Justin Trudeau (who was born a millionaire) explaining that everything I just described makes you, the small business owner, a tax cheat.

How you get taxed to death in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 Me: Earn $220k+ in income CRA: Lovely. We’ll take 53.53% of that Me: Treat yourself to a exotic car for the hard work CRA: Add 23% Tax Me: Put $100 in the gas tank CRA: That'll be 35% Tax Me: Make $250k capital gains on stocks CRA: That'll be 66.7% Capital Gains Tax Me: Investment income retained in corporation CRA: That'll be 50.17% tax mate. I could go on, but the harder you work, and the more value you create in the economy, the more they punish you in Canada.
