I have to ask…why is Rory hated so much now by some? I’ve had literally 100+ replies espousing hate on Rory. Before his Masters win he was beloved. Yes he has said some dumb things, but anyone as open as he is would. He speaks candidly all the time.

I’m sure you are right, no question he has a great math brain and is good at certain aspects. However that’s not the point. Theres a way of interacting, behaving and presenting things that isn’t completely dismissive and attacking of others. A growth mindset is open to the findings and ideas of others. Additionally golf is a blend of science and art, with art being a huge part in short game. Nothing against Mr Mayo, I wish him luck.

@JonathanYarwood Jonathan you talk often of a growth mindset , improvement etc If anyone has that mindset its Joe Mayo . But you and your mate Nick Bradley were particulary dismissive of him .One need not agree but Mayo understands the math better than any of the current teachers out there .

True independent thinking requires analyzing foundational knowledge and using one’s own judgment.”- After recent comments on my Blades steep swing post which were dispelled when I showed the improved swing 🤦🏻‍♂️ To the polarising theories on “steep or shallow” in chipping, I really fear that much of the coaching community are losing their ability to have a growth mindset. Seems there are “Churches” that they’ve been indoctrinated into that create a “fixed” and non-growth mindset which kills growth and knowledge. As a coach you have an obligation to be open minded and in a constant growth mindset. People can show you “hard facts” for why steep chipping is the only way. People can find “hard facts” on why shallow is better. The facts are they both work according to shot demand and conditions. We can find anything to validate any opinion on anything nowadays. I’d urge you to not be influenced by people who shout loudest as they are often the most insecure about their stuff. Keep inquisitive, get a knowledge library, but above all get out and apply it. Anyone can theorise on the sidelines and look good on a comments section. 🤷‍♂️👊🏻⛳️
