A Tulare County detective was ambushed and killed Thursday morning while serving an eviction notice in Porterville, CA. Detective Randy Hoppert was shot by a 60-year-old suspect armed with a high-powered rifle. He died at a local hospital, leaving his four-months-pregnant wife behind. The suspect barricaded himself, then later emerged in tactical gear and opened fire on SWAT. Officers ran him over with a BearCat, killing him instantly. No prior record. Motive unknown.
